Vince,
Put me down for the first copy of your DVD!

Why not!?!

Thanks for all of the responses and expert knowledge. I have placed orders for the Gizmo with laser attachment and a set of 5/8" bars from Trent Bosch. Hollow forms, here I come! Once I get the...
Thanks Scott,
I really appreciate that feedback. Trent's bars really do interest me more than any others that I have seen but the glue-in thing had me a little worried. Sounds like that is not...
Thanks so much for the replies. I have been on the fence to buy some hollowing tools forever but hate to waste money by buying things and then finding out its not what I really wanted/needed. The...
Hi Guys/Gals,
I am finally making the leap to purchase a hollowing set-up. I am 90% decided on the Gizmo from JT Tools but am not sure about the transformer attachment. It initially seemed a...
Hi Jeremy,
Do you see the imperfections before you press the pens together? I have had problems like this when the glue protruded past the wood on the tube and therefore made contact with the kit...
Absolutely Beautiful!

I have been getting kits from B&G supply (penkits.biz) with real casings and all of the needed hardware and have been pleased with them. You can get extra clips or nibs if you want a brass nib and...
Mike,
I have no idea, I have never had mine open to look at it! My cheap kill switch is all external of the lathe and just cuts power to the entire lathe. Just wanted to make sure you were aware...
Faust,
They all look incredible but the calabash is my favorite. I just want to pick it up and hold it in my grubby little hands!
Greg
Something to consider: some (most?) of the VFDs have settings for the adjustment of the speed at which the motor slows to a stop. If you kill the power to the VFD, the motor will not be under power...
Thanks guys for all of your opinions. Bernie, that is what I was hoping to hear. I will order one with my CSUSA gift card.

I have a PSI Jacobs chuck that has quite a bit of run-out. The problem seems to be between the chuck and the taper. I have a gift certificate to CSUSA that I need to use and was thinking they would...
Almost there! When I got home last night, I put down a coat of shellac around the crack and let it dry while I had dinner. I then brought out the mortar and pestle to pulverize some coffee grounds...
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will definitely be filling the crack!
I know that some of you use shellac or lacquer sanding sealers to prevent the filling material solvent (epoxy or CA)...
I need some help with this cherry platter. I had a crack develop during the drying process as some of you told me i would from a previous post. I feel like i need to address the crack since it is...
James,
These look great. I recently made a few and already had a return on one of the PSI kits from my mother in law. She has been known to be heavy-handed (and a little bit compulsive) but she...
+1 on the ring holder, perfect size for that!
The first thing you need to do is cut each 8" strip in half to double the number of pieces and make them a more usable size. Other than that, you can use them just like any other sandpaper except...
Looks great Kathy! What about pyro-ing the cut edges but leaving the natural edges (just thinking out loud). It will be gorgeous no matter what you do because all of your pieces are!
Greg
Barkeepers Friend is great stuff. It contains oxalic acid and works wonders on rust. It is the best product I have found for keeping stainless steel looking new.

My parents raised me to be "frugal," my wife calls me cheap but I finally spent the money on a Robust rest and it was worth every penny! I got a 9" comfort rest and use it 90% of the time on my...
Rob,
You should be good-to-go with kiln dried lumber. You can use a glue block if you want to use the entire thickness for your platter. Good luck and post some pics when finished!
