I've seen them called panel clamps, I think.
I've found this to work well. Don't completely tighten until a couple screws are in.
Yeah, but what happens when it's the WIFE who has the tool obsession?!? And the husband doesn't care, as long as it doesn't overflow into his space!
Seriously, though, don't go down the hand...
Thank you! That is very interesting info. The boxing doesn't have a dovetail, just some straight grooves. It's not loose; the fit is very good. I might just clean it up and reglue, and see what...
Yes, I've looked at more pictures, and now I understand
Found this plane today. It's missing it's fence, but has a really nice depth stop adjuster.
Stamped WH Spalding, Elmira NY
Two questions: it has a removable strip of a different kind of wood, is...
For anyone else who needs the information at a later date: yes, the tote from a #35 fits a #36 perfectly.
I'm not going to buy a tote off the internet unless know it fits, otherwise I'd have two useless totes, and I'm not made of money.
Doesn't the VG with doug fir stand for Vertical Grain?
I bought a #36 transitional plane last year, not really knowing what it was, and then forgot about it. I found it again last weekend, and since I seem to have caught a mild case of plane rehab fever,...
No table saw
I was impatient and used my saddle square as a saw guide. Now I've got the side all banged up. How best to repair this and make smooth and flat again? Should I just use sandpaper like lapping a...
I dated the plane yesterday, and was rather shocked to discover it's a type 5, circa 1885-88. I'm not interested in collecting, and it's not really in collectible shape, to be honest. Going to put...
Thank you all! I'm very encouraged. The lever cap was the only issue aside from rust and lost japanning.
Found a No. 8 today. Big honkin' plane!
I am worried the lever cap Is too damaged to use. Please see pictures.
Everything else is in decent working condition.

All good suggestions, thank you. Sometimes you can't see an answer that's staring you in the face.
I would like to have a thin layer of hardboard covering the top of my workbench. What adhesive will allow it to be removed and replaced?
I don't want to screw it down, I'm avoiding any metal in my...
YES! You are my new favorite person, thank you
Another voice for the ws3000, although I've never used it for curved blades.
None of those machines at that link are 8 inch, 110V
I suppose I should have specified that I was interested in new machines.
So it seems like I'm stuck with either a 6 in or my handplanes for a few more years yet.
Thanks for the input. You guys are awesome.
I've looked at all the usual suspects, and I can't find a 8 inch jointer that runs on 110/120 volts.
I'm renting, so I can't install the 230v everything seems to require.
Wondering if anyone...
I assembled my new Rikon 10-326 bandsaw!
