I've done it both ways, depending on whether or not the jig was 'permanent' or not. When I have glued I've used the HF 5 minute cheapo epoxy. Great stuff.

I'm partial to this one: http://www.cianperez.com/Wood/WoodDocs/Wood_How_To_Power/POWER_How_To_pages/Photog_DP_Table.htm
I particularly like the round insert. With it you can just rotate it a few...
I've thought about doing this for a while now. I think you'd have to set up some sort of pivoting system so that the arm was at the bottom when moving the rig for stability and rotating the whole...
I've had the same problem with the Wixey angle gauge. In fact I need to buy a battery for it.
If you're concerned about the really fine dust, I have had great success with a run of the mill shop vac using a cleanstream brand filter. It's made out of Gore-tex so even super fine stuff like...
Whenever I'm doing a job that is new or novel to me and I don't have a lot of experience doing bids with it I always go time & materials for estimates. I build about a 20-25% fudge factor into the...
I used this plate to build my router table. It's actually a pretty nice plate, nice thick phenolic plastic, leveling screws at each corner. I haven't had any problems with mine, I'd use it again.
I used to work at a company that used a lot of azek in their products. I'm on board with the butt joints and paint idea. No sense making it more complicated than it has to be.
I'm a renter, too so I feel your pain. I've had 2 solutions that have worked for me over the years. First, I turned my living room into a shop. I didn't have many tools at the time, but it worked...
I have a DeWalt RAS as my only saw, so I'm pretty devoted to the things. That said, I have to agree with the other poster that you should hold out for a DeWalt or a Delta. I'm told that the old...
I use a table of two layers of 3/4" MDF with 3 3/4" x 1/8" steel bars embedded in vertical slots (3/8" + a hair in each table half) perpendicular to the blade travel. These keep the table from...
I have the G7944 and have never wished for a larger or more powerful one in the 7 or so years that I've owned it.
I use my elcheapo magnetic stud finder all the time and has never failed me yet. I've never seen the need for an electronic one. That said, I do most of my work on older homes with plaster and lath...
I have an older delta head that I've used on my Dewalt RAS. I think that the RAS is a prefered method of swinging a molding head because of the ability to position the head in so many different...
Well I have a ton of non-WWing projects that need doing:
- fix the rust on my truck (probably get started on that tomorrow)
- fix rust on LOML's van (probably after that)
- fix my Eames easy...
No pix (this was pre-digital camera territory) but I made a wooden mixing spoon for my mom on my father's scroll saw and belt sander when I was 8 or so. It was pretty useless as a spoon, but mom...
Blowing cellulose insulation into existing walls is pretty easy, economical and very effective as an insulator. If you buy enough, some of the borg stores will give you a free day's rental of the...
You seem to be on the right track with your choices. If you only plan to crosscut, the blade you chose will be fine. If you want to do miter, bevel, miter-bevel cutting or ripping on it, there are...
You can tweak a framing square back to square with a center punch. Hit it (fairly lightly) near the inside corner to open it up, also hit the outside corner to close it up. Hope this makes sense.
Yeah, I thought about having the sashes made. The rub is that the upper sash is curved so it's a custom job no matter how you slice it. I owe this guy about a hundred favors, so I'm cutting him a...
I like your idea so much I may steal it.
So I have a customer that wants me to build some replacement sashes for a pair of double hung windows. What wood would you use for this? The originals seem to be old-growth pine.
Maybe it's not very Christian of me, but I only loan tools to 2 people, my father, who already has one of everything so he rarely borrows, and the guy whose house my shop is at (rent free) because I...
I LOVE my left blade Milwaukee (I'm a righty) You can use a speed square, too. I use mine most every day; I'm a carpenter by trade.
