For dedicated resaw I would get a 1" 2-3tpi carbide Lenox blade. I typically run 1/2 Lenox Bimetals because they will do ok resawing, and are great for the scroll cuts I typically make. Sculptural...

I typically run Lenox Bimetals on all my bandsaws. They stay sharp for a very long time and do a good enough job for the occasional resaw. I do have a 1" carbide blade for it, but have never had it...
Dude, get the Meber for that price. I got lucky and got mine from Broyhill when they closed down Chair 1 plant. I paid $800 for it and all I had to do was put new tires on it and go. It was is an...
They typically will bring $5000 from a gallery. I'll make them for $3k from a direct sale. In the right region they can bring $10k.
I use plastic resin glue for the rockers, seat glueup, and crest rail to back leg intersection. For the rest of the joints I use slow setting epoxy.
Thanks,
John
I have 120 hrs in this one. I spent a lot of extra time getting the visual weight of the back legs right to my eye. Reguardless these will always take me around 80-100 hrs to complete. It's a...
I posted on another board, but I figured I'd go ahead and post it on the creek to celebrate it being back up and running. The rocker is made out of solid walnut. The finish is shellac and lacquer...
I couldn't agree more. I drum sand every door I make, but typically don't drum sand face frames.

Matt would be proud.:D
I've had two types of systems. My previous miter station was this.

What did you do for the staining? I like the whitewashed or pickle look. I've always wondered what the best way to creat that look is. You'res looks a lot like a look I need to creat on a project...
I love the federal period inlay work. Really sweet!
I have a free inlay router method how to on my website. Template works is ok, but you can't do fine enough detail for me. To get the nice detail you have to go freehand.

I agree with you absolutely. I have been working on a project in my head for some time perfecting the design. When I finally get through all the paying projects I will build it. I have a lot of...
Gotta love Maloof's organic style. The maloof chairs I've made have been my favorite projects. One day I'll make a Maloof table as well.
Thanks,
John
Yeap, a lot of shapers are 3/8" too. I'm going with a set of Freeborns for my 3 spindle shaper. They will have 7/16" groove.
Honestly 95% of my doors have panels less than 14". I have a number...
Yeap, use them.
You are right John. I probably would want to reduce a 22" panel to two separate panels, but the design may warrant a single panel. You never know. The one thing you don't want to have happen is build...
I just wanted to double check myself on my maximum raised panel sizes for kitchen cabinet doors. With a router bit and a 3/8" groove I always limit my raised panel sizes to 18" because of wood...
That is what I do. :) I do just enough professional work to fund the shop. I don't have the budget left over from my real professional life, so I let the hobby pay for itself. :)
Welcome.
John
No matter if it is AD or KD lumber wood moves. The larger your panels the more you need to think about prefinishing the edges of the panel at least because you will have more wood movement. If you...
I'm using the Mepla's for the first time on this kitchen job and have really been impressed. I bought the soft close full extension version. They are the best slides I've ever used. Gives a totally...
I've thought about trying this finish on one of my maloof chairs. I know it is just beeswax dissolved into tung oil, but do you heat it? If so, what do you use to heat your mixture?
Thanks,

I use Briwax for all my finer furniture peices. I like the fact that they have colored waxes. I use them to alter the final color some when required. For waxing planes and such I use Minwax. For...
I've heard of horry stories about guys trying that route. He ended up with all edge trim not even 3/4" wide. Just a skid of trash. I'd see about picking it up local so you can see what you are...
