I've got to make some outside corner mouldings that will be less than the standard 90.
Any thoughts on how to cut the 2 long adjacent pieces on the tablesaw?
I need to make a cut of 52 degrees....
Have to make a pair of sliding doors for a closet and was wondering if where the 2 stiles overlap in the centre, are they made different widths to compensate for the visual loss of width when looking...
Once you experiment a bit to ensure the TS fence is set to cut the board equidistant from the hole you're pretty well all set. Even if you were off a bit as long as you have the spindles inserted...

I did all of the spindles you see in this couch with a Dowelmax.
The holes in the couch frame are easy enough if you've a Dowelmax but the holes in the spindles were a different story....
Not to overdo the point but the handwheel shouldn't be moving whether the lock is on or off, no?
Certainly didn't move before.
Thanks.
Even with the lock on my head moves down.
Any way to stop this?
Anyone know if this also applies to the older TP1300?
I don't see and or can't find any chain covers.
I'm fairly happy with the Ridgid also and have only recently come across Bill's problem.
Bill *- How do you fix this "idler chain"? Mind giving a few details? Thks.
Thanks for all the input. So far I've really liked using the spar finish. I thin it 20-25% and apply it like a wiping varnish.
When I wetsand the final coat with 600 grit the result is quite...
No, it's an interior bench.
I'll keep applying the varnish.
I'm curious as to why wax wouldn't work.
I am using slightly thinned Helsman spar varnish but it could be any other finish like poly or oil.
It's the areas that are a bit punky that are soaking it all up.
Question really is if wax will...
I`ve been trying to get an even sheen on a spalted maple bench I've made but in some of the soft areas it just keeps soaking up the vanish. This is after 7-8 coats.
Now some areas are too glossy and...
I've a 11 inch wide, 2 in. thick spalted maple board that I'd like to attach to a base with 2 supporting rails underneath.
The board wood core doesn't feel solid enough to handle having some...
Jerry,
Love the table.
Those inserts have aprons on the sides?
Wouldn't it almost be necessary to have aprons to help keep those 15-1/2" inserts flat?
I think it's the manufacturer that's gone and changed the sizes.
See the old vs new labels.

I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed the difference.
I'll check into it a bit...
Mine were from Lee Valley also.
You're right about using the smaller drill -would be too loose in the jig bushings.
Anyone else notice the new smaller diameter dowels being sent for the Dowelmax?
The packages even state "new size".
Haven't measured them but they're definitely a smaller diameter and even rattle...
Here's an example of using a veneered ply top with the solid maple border. The pics are with the extensions in and then pulled out.

I ended up cutting off one of the stiles where it joins the rails, making a new one and redoing the joinery. Luckily the router still had the trim bit in it for redoing the inside of the frame. ...
Sigh.....

....like glue up a heavy solid interior door (30 X 80). Anybody can do that, right?
Sand all the parts and identify all the parts to ensure the glueup goes smoothly. Even give a coat of finish to...
Hmmmm....I thought stating the lumber was 2" thick would more or less indicate the type of door but...anyway, yes, this is for interior doors.
Further research by me seems to show that if you...
I agree. Been my experience also.
Trying to make up my mind which is the better method to go with for making the rails and styles for 8 mission style doors...
They'll all be in qtrsawn oak.
