Tom - that is one NICE shop!
Yes, single.. haha..
Thanks everyone - For safety reasons and comfort-level, I decided to resaw using my benchtop 10" bandsaw. I bought a Woodslicer resaw blade, and my gosh, it worked really, really well. The stock...
This forum is great and really helps me. I live in a studio apartment in Manhattan, so this is my workshop.. I have a few benchtop tools (bandsaw, drill press, table saw) that I move in and out as...
Thank you everyone. One question, with a 3.5" wide x 1" thick x 2' long board, do I have to leave an "H" and finish the cut by hand, or can I cut all the way through on the second cut?
p.s. I've...
ok thanks Steve - how do I use a push block if the piece is a narrow, vertical piece against the fence? Do I also need a feather board to hold the piece against the fence?
Need to resaw some 1" inch thick x 3.5" wide x 2' long walnut. Want to resaw it into two thinner boards. Have a Sears 10" benchtop bandsaw that is not very precise, or powerful, etc. Don't have any...
Can you post any pics of how you do this? I'm a novice and learning how to safely do this kind of thing. Tx! Matt
I used the technique where you put the oak runners in the miters (with cardboard shims to make them tight). Glued on the sled. Looks good, but it doesn't slide easily. Feels very tight. D'oh!
Do...
I have the GRRipper, and it worked, but my strips were a little wider at one end - I think because as the GRRipper passed over the blade, the tail end of the board was not pushed snug to the fence..
I'm glad I asked!! Yikes - will get the rockler jig. Thank you everyone! - Matt
Which jig is better/safer for ripping thin strips:
GRRipper, or jig (pic attached)?
a) With the jig in the picture, how thin can the original board (i.e. the purple one in picture) become as...
If I use 1/2" mdf for the base of the sled, will that be thick enough to use T-tracks for hold-downs? Do I really need hold-downs? I'm a little confused!
p.s. Can I also use mdf for the fences...
ok - i see now! d'oh! thank you Axl.
yes, but you are referring to runout, what about .05 out of parallel with miter slot??
Thank you for the info! I may have misspoke on "runout" - my measurement was that the blade is not PARALELL to the miter slot by .05 (5 hundredths). (I kept the blade stationary, and used the dial...
I am a novice, with a new Dewalt DW745 Benchtop table saw and a dial indicator.. I measured whether the blade is parallel with the miter slot, and I get runout of about .05. It varies a little each...
This is a pic of a jewelry box I saw online. How would you attach the sides to the legs? The sides are about 6" high.
Could you just glue the sides directly to the legs, using a band clamp, or...
That helps! Thanks Loren,
Matt
What I'd like to know is: how hard is it to adjust the DW745's blade (e.g. so it is parallel to slot, etc). I fear that if I loosen the screws underneath, i'll never get it back to where it was. It...
FYI - i bought a DW745 and had to return the first one because the table was significantly not flat (had a bow in it). The new one i received is better. I've heard that these types of saws can be...
Has anyone used "SuperCut" band saw blades (see amazon link below). They are supposedly carbide.. I have a 10" Craftsman bandsaw, and am deciding whether to purchase the blade for $37.50..
...
I don't remember, sorry!
