I agree. If I was doing that on cherry, I'd do a thinned coat of dewaxed shellac, lightly sand it and then BLO or BLO/poly thinned for wiping

I would drill/route them to full depth, and then either square up the corners of the mortise or chamfer the corners off of the tenons. If routing them, I'm not sure you can a 2" deep mortise...
Personally I don't see an problem with a little end grain. I wouldn't put anything on it. Smooth it and finish as normal. Depending on what finish you're putting on, perhaps a little sealer on the...
And another. Jim was able to help me pick a good user No 7. Actually cost less than some of the others that were more collectible. I would not hesitate in doing business with him. Awesome service.
Judson recommended a really nice selection.

I too ordered the printed and PDF version as I usually do from Lost Art. But I like to read the paper version first so I haven't even opened the PDF yet. PDF versions I think are nice for quick...
So you're suggesting something bigger like a xcut tenon saw instead of the smaller carcass saw?
I'm shopping for one, too. Right now I'm leaning towards the LN saw, maybe the tapered variety.
Can you put a dog in your tail vise's chop and a line of dog holes in the bench? That's what I have any it works great.
Unless someone has a reason not, looks like I will going with 80bf of 4/4 poplar that has been skip planed to 15/16". That will get me do a final of less than 7/8" but I think it will still be ok. ...
My Tite Mark marking gauge from Glen Drake tools just arrived. Awesome piece of craftsmanship and helps to make sure these wonderful toolmakers stay around. I was on the fence about getting one,...
I would rather have one that had a quick release on it. I use that feature every time I use the vise.
You can add a wood chop and dog also if desired.

Mine is loaded with jojoba oil.
I use this Bosch hose and it works well. Connects to the Festool also. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AV78B/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have this experience also. However my Veritas dogs needed a slightly larger hole.
How are these two slabs going to be laminated? What about movement?
Thanks, Chris. I like it a lot so far. I have a cheap vise mounted on the end that I use as a tail vise. All of it works well together. So far there isn't anything I would change for the next one.
How could you get to one glue line using the 16/4 poplar? There is a school here in Austin and his benches from made up of some 16/4 poplar and they look and wear nice.
I'd buy whatever is...
You're right in that I didn't consider the trays. Thanks for pointing that out. I was at 48.5 for the case plus 13 for the bottom which I was going to do in oak. So maybe I should look at about...
If my math is right, 50ish bf for this. Does that sound right?
Sorry for the necro-post, but did anyone come up with a bf estimate? Trying to figure out how much I need. (Right now I'm thinking about Cypress.)
I turned one of these into a tail vise. Works great and dead simple to install. http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/152633/Eclipse-7-Quick-Release-Vise.aspx
Here it is in use. This idea I found from...
I bought mine a year ago and did not have any alignment issues. Lucky or problem fixed... either way I couldn't be happier with it. Well after I replaced that crappy miter gauge with the Osborne...
I had a ballast going out in my garage and was looking at going with T8s. Instead I went with LED. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008XHVAA6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
