You'll probably want to spray that painted finish on. Brushing that type of project, IMHO, is not fun nor does it look as nice as a nice sprayed on finish.

I used a pad with DNA and gently wiped. It went away pretty much instantly. I simply waited for it to dry and then resprayed later. Gone!

Temp here is 60 with a dew point at 53. Is that too much moisture in the air or not warm enough?

So I'm breezing along with my shellac and now today, I'm seeing a milky white appearance as the shellac dries. What gives?

I have #2,3,4,5,6 tips for my Graco 3800. The manual tells me which tip for use for everything BUT Shellac.

I'm trying to start off pretty light. What kind of ratio would you guys start off with? I'm using Dark Walnut but still don't want to go too heavy at first.

Is it okay to spray TT Dye diluted with distilled water or is it a much better decision to use DNA? I'd prefer to use water at this point, but if it's not a good choice, I'd go the DNA route.

The plan is to shellac a few coats and then use a wipe on Poly or varnish. Which would give a nice satin finish? Is one better or easier to apply?

If shellac is somewhat glossy in nature, will applying a satin finish over it create a satin finish? Or will the glossy look show through?

So if the overall appearance is pretty shiny, am I applying too much shellac? Or is that a "look" of shellac people sometimes go for?

by soaking in I mean the wood seems so porous in areas that it looks very flat (sheen) compared to the rest of the wood.

What kind of sand paper do you use to even things up? I bought some 600...

Also, what kind of sheen (or shine) does multiple coats of shellac (garnet) produce?
