    Like Lee said try to determine the finish type before any removal. Test small spot unseen maybe Q-tip in alcohol if tip shows finish coming off it's shellac, no try lacquer thinner if that comes off...

    You can find Mineral Oil Brand X (doesn't matter) in the Pharmacy or Pharmacy section of a Walmart. Like the others mentioned works great and easy to do a once on a while refresh.
