Metal bandsaw blades are broken in, they are run with reduced feedrate when new in order to get a stable, slightly rounded, durable edge and no chipping or broken edges.

Hey Stu,
I would never sell the Hitachi Resaw... a bigger machine still won't run a 2 inch or more blade, i think it will resaw worse. Big Blue has a relatively small footprint, too. I'd rather get...
Hi Jerry,
i'm sure many SMC readers would like to know about your method to set up the first cut. At least i would!

I have the little Bosch in the pictures above. comes with two batteries which charge in 30min and reportedly last for 150 screws. I didn't drill with mine yet but screwing works fine. Very handy,...
Rebuilding these batteries is not that hard, i rebuilt my cousin's makita battery twice already. You need to be able to solder and get the right cells. Once you cracked (hopefully not) the battery...
Nice! I have the 21" version of that bandsaw.
Have fun with your new tools :D

Hi Dave,
i don't want to play devil's advocate, but IKEA has a new desk similar to what you're planning. It is called "Cyril" and appears in the 2007 catalog i got last week. I didn't find it...

I like the look of willow as well, great to see something in a rarely used species.
I am wondering how these spice boxes are used.. do you store spices in them? Considering the...
I would be interested and showing the joinery would add to the value of the tutorial for me.
All your other tutorials are a great help to get started with the functions of sketchup.
Thank You...
My sharpening service told me that bimetal blades are not really resharpenable, as the tooth tip with the hard steel is really thin (i.e. ground off at first resharpening). I think carbide or...
Thank you for this interesting link!
Hello,
these face shield air helmets seem like the best solution for dust protection. The price tag is kinda hard to swallow anyway, especially 700$ for the 3M unit. As a hobbyist, i don't need...
I cut myself with a bread slicer once, in the index finger of the left hand. It took maybe 8 weeks to heal (i was 4 weeks off duty..) but the habits i developed to avoid using this finger (like your...
Matt,
get well soon! I'm really sorry to hear about the second router table accident on one weekend here on SMC. Definitely makes me feel that hand feeding on the RT is not that safe, autofeed or...
