Have you considered putting a small bump-out addition on the back or side of your garage? I put a 5' x 14' bump-out on the back of my garage. The left half is a laundry area closed off from the...

Try a jig saw. Stack two sheets and use a straight edge. I've used a jigsaw to cut holes in drywall and the edges of the cut are smooth.
I apologize for the late reply. Not mine, just a picture I saved. I agree, it looks sturdy. Here's the link. Scroll down to the first comment.

If you google Grizzly G1023 and click on Images, there are some pictures of saws with fences that look like your fence. Here are some links from Images which may have some information about your saw....
A plastic insert or a metal frame is needed. That's why I chose a drum with straight sides so the insert is easy to remove.

I have a 30-gallon straight-sided white ("natural") plastic drum under my SDD. White drums are translucent so the level of the contents is visible from the outside. My drum is a different brand which...

I have the 14-gallon Ridgid 1450 and the 12-gallon Craftsman XSP linked previously. Both have been good vacuums and both are reasonably quiet. I think you'd be happy with either one. Here's a good...
That looks like it will work well. The two heights will be handy.
My workshop is 1/2 of a two-car garage. I have a Skil X-Bench which I use for a work table, second workbench, outfeed table,...
Do you like vintage tools? There are currently two under-mount woodworking vices on eBay for less than $100 -- a quick-release Morgan 100A and a fixed-nut Columbian 5-CD.

I believe HTC made the Xacta fence for Jet. I have the HTC800 fence with the micro-adjust feature. Does your fence look like the HTC fence pictured in this link?

Since you won't be using the saw every day, check out the Makita 4329. It's a basic, no-frills jig saw that gets mostly-positive reviews (HD, Amazon, CPO Makita and elsewhere).

Check with Grizzly to see what the price of the saw would be without the fence and rails. Or maybe they would give you lift-gate shipping in exchange for not ordering the fence assembly.
Are you planning a shop vacuum-based system or a larger dust control system. Here is an example of each installed in an attic.

Not a new idea. I have a portable Skil X-Bench, which has a removable plate on the left side of the table. Accessory insert plates were available for a jig saw, belt sander, router, drill press, and...

No advice on size, but I've always liked the design of this multi-use outfeed table.

I think the flip-top idea would work. Guys are building them for their DeWalt 735 planers (92 pounds) without a counter weight.
