Indeed I have been quite busy with training courses, demonstrations and exhibitions. plus.... some health problems. I'll try to visit you more often.
I am so pleased to be back with you after such a long time.
Eli Avisera came to Verona for two workshops. It was a delight.
I want to share part of it with you all

In Brazil they call it Palo Santo. I love this wood, fabulous to turn, wonderful smell all over the workshop.
I never put any finish on it as, very often, the finish prevents the wood from turning...
Ironwood, as said before has many species, but rather than the gouge I use dynamite.... :)
i use and have been using for some years now a Diamond Wheel grinder
Thank you very much to all of you.
The 3d design of the pieces is a progressive and collaborative effort. We wanted pieces that went up, other laterally, even one which have to be inserted...
Randy, could you tell me what is the name of the burl standing on the far left of your picture.
I have a really big one here which I bought from Tasmania with plenty other burls (don't ask me what...
Doug I wish I had a piece turned by my grand father, the only one is the baby rattle he turned for my mother. It is an antique piece too but certainly not as nice as yours.
Byron, that is a really thin platter. Probably looking even better in reality.
WOOW Steve, I don't know how you managed.
When I face such a situation I wrap the outside in plastic film. It does hold every thing together and does not leave any trace of glue as it has none ;)
Together with my friend Adriano we made a 3d turned puzzle. The pieces are made of 2ch high wall nut. Some have three layers of obnoxious shapes, making it mind boggling to assemble. But the...
Many thanks to any one of you for the welcome back greetings.
Thanks a lot William
John, it's surprising to see how resistant the wood is
It has been ages since I last came and met you. I will not tell you the list of problems which prevented me from joining you here, but these are over (I Hope)
Lately a French friend of mine came...
I love your Viedo Paul.
I guess I am going to put such a music in my workshop, it might pull me up :)
hum... I do not have the right wood for it, I'm afraid I will have to go and pay a visit at Sequoia Park :)
Hello every one.
Away from the forum for ages because of all sorts of problems, I am very happy to be back with you.
I forgot to say in the title, that this lathe is for large pens :D
Maximum...
That is what I call the 1.000.000 answers question. I must say I use both but my favourite and by far is the oval one. I find it smoother to use, but that is probably because I do not use the...
you should turn more of these bowl-ish.
Very very nice.
In addition, while zebra wood has stunning colours I do not find it particularly agreeable to turn, but I still do because of all these great...
Nicely turned and finished.
I love it when you have the "windows" in the wood. Turning is much faster as you can constantly watch the thickness of the walls.
Was it your experience?
very nice scoop indeed.
Funny, every time I turn one I make holes in it as , down here in Itally we use it to fetch olives from the jar :)
I tried all possibles ways but the only one I didn't like is having my back to the wall.
True, most of the shavings will fall in front of you and they'll be easy to remove but...
You are not...

Very nice and precise turning.
