Thank you Steve for the response. So would you then bypass putting the dye on the inside too? I'm thinking i'm just going to apply shellac to the interior.

1. Would I dye and then pore fill? I'm thinking about going...

I'd love to but for my needs, the 1700 CFM is plenty for 1 tool at a time and a 15' run. I am also trying to save that extra money for another tool purchase lol.
Yeah i'm upgrading to 6" main after talking to penn state industries.
Thanks again
I am looking to purchase a Grizzly G0548ZP pretty soon and want to re-do my current ducting. I currently have a harbor freight D/C but find that it lacks the cfm for my needs. My only issue is, my...
Amazing work! I really like the chest. If you don't mind me asking, what stain and finish did you use? I love the look of the cherry!
I myself own the Porter Cable and love it. I just don't see the need to spend a lot of money for a drill press. This is my opinion only though. As long as it drills straight, has enough power, what...
I got some last year during their sale, but normally only buy bessey clamps. I really dislike the Jet's that I received. They don't slide smooth and often stick. I decided to not buy any this year...
I have the woodriver and have had several parts break within the first year of usage. I would not buy this product again, and would go with a floor standing unit. The good thing about the Woodriver...
I would love to build the pieces myself but I don't think I have the patience to do so lol. It appears to be a tedious process to make these inlays.
Walter - Thanks for the link
I am trying to dive in to the veneer inlay world for the next table that i'm building and had a question. Where do you guys get your veneer inlays? I'm trying to build a hepplewhite inspired piece...
Howie,
Thanks for the recipe! If I start to make more boards, I will certainly use it.
I am using this on some new cutting boards and it says to put 3-4 coats on new boards. My question is, how long after the 4th coat before they can be used? I'm guessing once it's dry it should be...
Thanks Howard!
I used Satin and applied it with a cotton rag. They are sort of white and cloudy, yeah.
John,
Thanks for the reply. I am really positive it's not the wax. I will give the cleaning and sanding another go.
Thanks
I have a TV stand that I built out of curly cherry and finished with Arm-r-seal. Well I guess i never noticed it until here recently, but the top is really streaky. I see white lines in the top that...
I mixed a 2 pound cut of dewaxed garnet shellac and have applied several coats to a test board and had a question. I noticed it had no shine to it at all. Is this typical for dewaxed shellac? Is it...
Looks great. How many coats did you end up putting on?
Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it. I need to spend a week testing out different finishes to find the one that I like the best (speaking of a varnish/poly finish).
I guess I didn't ask my question right. What are other finishing products in your opinion that would have been easier? I appreciate the advice, but i thin i will stick to using cotton rags to apply...
Well I didn't plan on adding so many coats, but after the first coat it wasn't right, but after the second, it was too shiny. I'm stopping after this coat of satin. I was going to put a couple coats...
Howard,
They do offer it in satin, but I have read to start the first few coats with gloss so it doesn't muddy up the clarity of the grain. Thats the problem with reading into applying finish...
