Now its time for the top. Back to the racks to decide on what that will be. I stumbled upon a piece of curly cherry that I picked up. I had seen it several times in the past and no one ever bought...
Now comes that PITA glue up that I backed myself into. Seems like I will need something to help with the clamping of the straight apron to the curved apron. Not to mention that little "transition"...
So now that I had something to work with, its time to start shaping this thing. Following the template, I cut out its shape in my apron stock. Those, coupled with the legs, ended up like this:...
I started this thing back in August 2010. It's not that it really took that long, its just that other stuff crept up and got in the way! All in all, approximately 120 hours or so including finish.

I've had one for probably around 5 years now? Other than changing to a better miter gauge, I've never thought of replacing it. It works for everything I ever throw at it.
You know, it happens every year to me. Christmas presents start sometime after Dec 1 and I ALWAYS feel rushed. Can't understand why.
You have the right idea and I keep telling myself...
Great design. Great wood selection. And, of course, great execution. Obviously! ;)
Good luck to your wife. It sounds like she will make it through with flying colors (especially with the painkillers :D ).
I recently had a rod removed from my femur (thanks to a car accident many...
No disappointment in this one! ;)
First off, welcome to the creek. Secondly, simply stunning! I spent some time going through the slideshows of this (and the others you had) and I have to say
1) You're a man of patience
2) If this...
Great looking! As usual, I tend to look at the pictures BEFORE I actually read the post text and my first thought was "architect". Seems like you captured that essence quite well (whether it was...
I agree, it looks great as is. Adding feet would throw the proportions off somehow. Consider it complete! Well done.
 Speechless
I love that bench! It is practical and you made an excellent choice of wood. I have always liked Ambrosia Maple, but have never used it in anything with that much surface area. I like how you chose...
There is something about the design that I really really like. Haven't quite put my finger on it, but I keep looking at them every time I come to the creek. Fantastic job!
Mike,
Excellent work. That lacewood really shines. I too have used it in the past and agree that it is somewhat difficult to work with when using certain tools. Obviously by seeing your finished...
Amazing. After the first picture, I thought it was going into the kitchen. Then I spied that bench and thought "hmm, going to have to be careful moving that out of the shop into the kitchen." Then I...
Next, I moved on to the finishing phase. One coat of Seal-A-Cell to start, and 4 coats of Arm-R-Seal after that. Between coats I used 0000 steel wool to knock down any shiny spots. I really like this...
Ahh, the joys of shop time can only result in bliss. Here is the build for my latest "effort". It is an end table (maybe?) made from Padauk and Tiger Maple that ended up being my dads 60th birthday...
Great job. More impressive than that is your patience. Not only did you finish an awesome piece, but you had the patience to do so.. ;)
Saweeet! Very nice design and choice of materials.
The whole piece is absolutely stunning. The top is...speechless..
The grain patterns you chose for those tops are stunning! Thumbs up!
Very nice. Both the stand and the TV.. ;)
