All three are end grain, turned from the same tree. 6" x 4½", 7" x 5", 9" x 6½" and 1/8 to 3/16" thick. They were rough turned, soaked in DNA and dried, then re-turned. Not real happy with the top...

End grain bowls need to be worked from the middle out to the rim. That way you are not cutting into the end grain.

Steve there are three pieces the hollow form, the lid, and the finial. The hollow form and lid where turned from the same glue up, and the finial from another one. Thanks for the comment. Ron

Walnut and maple glued up into a block, then turned into a box with lid and finial. The finial was turned from a separate glue up of 16 pieces, and attached with a tenon. 2 3/4" diameter by 4 1/2"...

Brian, I will try to explain. I sand both points the drive end more but just enough so does not slip. Next turn the outside from the points to the drive center where I make a tenon about 1/2" long...

Brian, The box is turned from a 3" cube, mounted between centers, on two opposite points of the cube.
The cube needs to be a perfect square, and centered exactly on the points. Ron
