Thank you for your sympathy and comments. It was a good way to grieve the loss of our son and for the children also.

    Boxes for ceamation ashes

I have spent the last month in Texas helping my daughter-in-law settle things after my son’s death. She is from Brazil and has a hard time understanding legal forms, but then don’t we all! She asked...

For at least the 5th time, I've reread this thread from the beginning. It's fun to follow, but it's educational to reread. This is beautiful, extraordinary, masterfully done work, Randall. Thanks so...

    Richard,

Thanks for the complement. It was fun doing this.
Do you want finished product photos or in process photos? As for the finished location, this was a prototype for some cabinet doors I'm...

    A Spring Daisy

It's been about 3 years since I first posted a carving and I just finished this one. I've had this piece of basswood around for a while and decided to put it to use (a prototype for a door panel.)...

    Marc,

I'm just an amateur, but I gleaned a lot of information from Doris Fiebig and Mark Yundt's blog site. There is a photo/teaching article called "Greenman" (located under "Mark") on their blog...

Dan, this is actually a wood carving with excellent painting. There is no money or envelope, just wood. Looks too real, doesn't it? Mr. Rosenthal does a lot of beautiful panitings/carvings similar to...

    Roll out flooring

We are using this type of flooring. Anything on wheels causes the flooring to move - creates a 'wave' in front of the wheels. I wouldn't recommend it where you need to move equipment around.

    Thanks

Thank you for the kind remarks. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that likes to see tool marks. They are so much smoother than you could ever get sanding, well, maybe not, but you can't...

Looking really great and so natural. Flows great.

Learning to use full size chisels

I know I don't post a lot here, but I'm still learning and don't know enough to be of much help to others. I carved this Celtic Cross for a volunteer at the mission where I work. The wood is Bradford...

    Facial features

The facial features of the clay model look realistic. Are they similar in depth to the rest of the carving? The nose and eyes look great or are my eyes tricking me and you are going to carving deeper?

    Hand made carving tools

I'm also a blacksmith by hobby and have made a gouge or two for the fun of it. They didn't turn out to be of craftsman quality, but I had a good time doing it. I think that most folks would rather...
