I ended up with the G5029 from Grizzly. I could say enough good things about it. Good dust collection. Nice solid Table, Big 12 disk. Big improvement over my previous sander. Highly recommended.
Shawn - Thanks for the advice. Yes I will be spraying the dye. Good point on the BLO for popping the grain.
Scott - I'm hoping to get down there this week and do some tests before I do the glue...
Scott - Thanks for the feedback. Guess I should do a test on each (dye + BLO and just dye). BLO + Shellac has always given me a great color on walnut, just haven't used dye before. Thanks for the...
That's a good point. I might replace the BLO on the Maple with Seal-A-Cell. I just finished a piece made from Curly maple the other day and liked that result as well. I'll test with both, but I...
I'm building a Kitchen Table out of black walnut for the table top frame and legs and Curly maple for the main field of the table. The table top field is removable so I plan on finishing the maple...
You can use 320 grit sand paper... Any kind is fine. I don't bother with the wet/dry kind.
However, I would encourage you to try steel wool. (0000) variety. If you don't have to "level" the...
Thanks for your assistance. I ended up ordering the Lockwood as they had the colors I was looking for (without a whole lot of mixing I hope) and had some others that I was interested in trying as...
Conrad - Where would you recommend picking up these Dyes? I'm assuming you mean Aniline Dye or a Water Based Dye? I found Transtint and Homestead. I'm pretty sure I can figure out either of them,...
All,
Kind of an odd request but I can use your expertise in identifying a finish that will get me where I want to me.
I built 3 face frames for mirrors out of Poplar but I haven't found a...

It's not quite felt, but if you wrap it around a piece of craft board...
I've been using the RTM (Release to Manufactures) release for about 2 months now. I absolutely love it. Upgrade was easy as eating cake, Hasn't once crashed on me and it certainly manages memory...
Well.. All I can say is that my Ridgid TS3650 has the dust collection around the blade. This picks up less that 50% of what is produced. I removed this enclosure, closed up the back and closed up...
So I'm dying to ask.... What's the best way to drill the holes for the pins in the hinge?

For a 500 gallon tank I would beef up the leg supports and upper frame. In addition, I would also run a center support along the bottom for your sump/refugium/calc reactor/skimmer/pumps etc. It...
Got any friends with Trailers? Have the delivery service lower it on to there, back the trailer into your garage and slide it in there. Or to make it even easier, get 4 heavy duty casters (atleast...
Doh! I new I forgot something before I left the house this morning. I finally made some REAL progress on my Blanket Chest. Cherry/Black Walnut, line with Cedar. Now all I have left to do is to...

I have the 3660 and am considering doing the same thing. I was too curious about the extra weight. My router is on the right hand side, but I would move it to the left hand side if need be to...
I'm In.

In doing some additional research... The Grizzly G0580 looks to have the exact same assembly that I would need. Part number P05550353. If anyone owns one of these saws and would be so kind as to...
I've had one of these Bandsaws for about 4 months now and last week, the wheel alignment finger (it's the gray metal piece behind the upper wheel that the horizontal adjustment screw controls)...
Count me in Please
That would be great! That's great Chris!!
