Great job, John. Good decision to leave it.
I found a piece of metal a little larger than a BB in a piece of mesquite. I just happened to see it while I had the lathe stopped. I'm not really sure how much I already had turned away, but it...
That's a nice bowl. I really like the figure in the wood. Good job showing it off.
On the home page it says the shopping cart isn't working yet, still getting up and running etc. etc.
That is a great bowl, John. I would be very proud of that. You are not lucking into this. It is obvious that you have honed your skills as a woodworker. Whether it's called the rule of thirds or phi,...
That's awesome Cliff.
Cool gift. When looking at the first picture, I was wondering how effective a wooden plunger would be:D
I was thrown off because the kids hadn't come in screaming yet. We actually had to get them up after 8.
Sorry, wasn't thinking, I know better than that. Don't know why I forgot the live center is in the tail stock. Guess I was thinkin about turning between centers. Doh
That's a good Christmas present What kind of mandrel is it? Ours takes the place of the live center, it has a #2 MT on it to slide right in the headstock. Maybe you can turn pens today.
Great story Ken. Happy Anniversary to you and Sharon. If we could all be so lucky.
Great news Curtis. Congratulations!!
Those are some nice pens. Nice pic too.
Those are some nice projects. I like them all, and am sure the recipients will as well.
I guess I'm missing something, but what is wrong with the front middle bowl in the "mess up" picture?
I wonder how many guests to this site are actually members that don't want to type any personal info into their computer at work. I know I've done it. One of the computers has a generic login that...
Very Merry Christmas to you too Bernie, and everyone else. I hope everyone gets what they want this year. Especially if all you want is to be with loved ones.
I looked at the G3, but I don't see a bigger lathe in my near future. I figure I will not be using my lathe at it's limits either. The Nova Midi is right in the area I think I'll be working. You...
I was looking for a decent chuck for my lathe(HF 34706). I am leaning towards the Nova(NOVA) Midi but I'm not sure why I'm seeing different listings for it on WC's site. I can't see any differences...
Nice pen. I like the larger curves than what you usually see.
I don't know if the trimmer can be sharpened. I do know you can put the blank up to a disk or belt sander and "trim" it down. Just take small amounts until you are there. Since I have the sander out...
That's a very nice bowl John. Good job for a first.
Congrats on your first Grandchild.
Oh wow. This one is beautiful. I was wondering what you meant when you said you would make a HF, and how that would help show the spalting and figure. Got it now, turn it over and display the beauty....
That's a nice bowl. When I started looking around here for turning advice is the first time I saw spalting. Well I had seen it, but not as a usable or desired feature, and didn't know what it was. I...
At the end of Barry Gross's Pen Making DVD he shows his display setup and talks about some of his pens. All of his sets(pen and case) were from $175 to $225. I don't know where these guys come up...
