And if it is all so overwhelming as some believe it is, try taking a class or see if there is someone local you may glean from. And I second the TBC method. More accurate and quicker. Almost any...
The forstner bit sounds like the way to go. And I would drill the large hole first. To large a small hole could lead to the bit jumping or walking. Or possibly using a plunge router. Just another...
No, there is no cure. I feel sorry for you. NOT. I can't believe someone would post turnings with holes in them! Those are some real beauts. Congrats on reigniting your addiction.
That's cool, took me a minute to figure out all the color.
Man, you're sucked in the vortex deep now! Note if you check out some of the sites, some will include bushings with purchase of 6 kits. I currently turn about 13 different bushings but only about a...
I love the two tone in that one. You sure you didn't glue two different blocks together? Great work.
That is some beautiful grain. I also like the rim effect.
High of 65! I wish my basement/shop stayed that cool. 85 isn't that bad and fortunately fans make it bareable.
That energy release is when you reach around to check your drawers.:D I've broken 2 and fortunately energy release was all I experienced.
I don't think it's a "self-starter" thing here. I was a mechanic over 20 yrs. I may be classified as a "master mechanic" but I still didn't know it all. When you have an industry that changes from...
This was for the second Granddaughter. Oak w/maple spindles. Support is in ebony stain.
I honestly am concerned with those who cannot afford insurance. As a retired military member, I consider myself blessed. $300 anual deductable, 20 percent of allowed deductable per visit. and $3000...
Try the auto parts store. Scotch lock I believe is the nomenclature. Also comes in sandpaper style.
"Young whippersnappers"! Remember back in early 80's when B&D sold a work bench you mounted a circular saw in? That was my first table saw. Fancy tools? Some would laugh at my inventory but I...
You guys sure set the bar high. I'm still trying to figure out how to use a bowl gouge effectively and then I see works of art such as these! Almost makes me wanna sell my lathe and get an old...
Nice match with blank and kit. Great fit as well. Beautiful work
Congrats on taking the plunge. It can be VERY addictive. I said the same thing a year ago.
Mine musta forgot that part, left at 19.5 years, remarried and 11 in sept. Commitment and respect. Respect covers a HUGE area though.
Jimmy Stewart once said in a movie, "you don't love her...
Attended a FreedomPens turning in Dallas saturday. Lots of amazing folks there and lots of pens were turned for the troups. Chased electrical problems on sunday. No fun there.
The pricing for euro's is right on. Simply because most won't spend more on it. There is more work in it than a Jr series. As far as how much will the market bear, A beautiful rosewood burl or...
If you have a truck, (semi) parts place nearby, they sell 4" exhaust pipe. Will not collapse but again not to flexable. Some auto parts stores selll it as well.
I haven't turned a cone yet either but I must say, those are beautiful!
Yes elm does turn nicely, like previously stated, kinda stringy. The smell reminds me of cat urine, especially if turned green. After it dries, the smell goes away.
Nice job. Wait till you've done 40-50 of them and you'll say, "I made those?" Never give up!
