Did you check the thermal overload? Try reseting it. It is the red button on the side of the electrical box. Push it in, it should click or snap as it resets if it was tripped.

I use a flat ground ripping blade from Infinity Tools (glue-lip rip, item # 010-024). Works great using a jig to hold the box at 45 degrees. Cuts clean and flat bottom kerfs.
