It is possible. But as someone else mentioned, temper your expectations. Glocks use a tenifer finish and that is tough! The trick is slow speed and high power. I've seen better results with a vector...
Gentec has quite a few options. Some analog and some digital.
I rarely engrave. Mostly cutting. Extruded seems to cut easier

Thanks for the review! Some of their OEM stuff can be expensive! Glad to see there are alternatives out there.
^This^. I find that the cheaper the glass, the better it engraves. That my have to do with the fact that the cheap glass is not as pure as the expensive stuff. I am not an expert on the subject....

What material is underneath the paint? I use painters tape sometimes for wood.
You could use the "Half Bitmap" tool if you are using a raster file to ligthen up the image. It's basically the poor man's PhotoGrav
