Lexan can be bent using a break. It cuts easily with either a jig/band saw or a fine tooth circular saw. It also scratches incredibly easily.

Any tool can be dangerous if the operator is careless or distracted. My worst injury came from a simple handsaw. Table saw always gets my full attention.
It's in the best interest of the vac manufacturers to sell as many filters/vacs as possible. An effective seperator prolongs the life of both.
In the picture they used the factory edge of a piece of 1/8" hardboard. Steel studs also make for an inexpensive guide.
