Don't know much about that laser's software, is it the type where you set power and speed by different colors, perhaps?
A cut with motion but no beam sounds like its working, but set to 0% power....

I realize that this thread is a bit old, but I wanted to reply (for future searches) that using a 70% power setting to limit the max current is absolutely fine.
The supply is not overpowering the...
Perhaps you can ask them to take a screenshot. Then you know it's the x'th option in the y'th menu.
Certainly been THERE before..
I needed to fill in the device ID as well. Mine was on a sticker on the mainboard where USB connected.
I use a chinalaser with CorelLaser. The gantry autozeros at power on, that sounds fine. That power supply probably runs the tube and mainboard and is probably universal 85VAC - 240VAC.
If the...
Now I'm thoroughly intrigued. I could see a conductive coolant acting as a capacitor, which could certainly disturb a "nice" power supply. When I switched to PG, I felt that my own generic 60W...
Interesting, I did not know that about PG. My setup is temp controlled as well, I just use PG to avoid growth.
Tell me, why is the conductivity a problem? I ask because chlorine seems like it...
Hi Dave,
You may try propylene glycol, aka RV or non toxic antifreeze. It is antimicrobial and antifungal above about 20% concentration.
Just be sure to clean out those chlorine crystals...
Can anyone come up with a reason that a copper heat exchanger wouldn't be suitable for a laser chiller? I know the aquarium chillers have titanium heat exchangers to tolerate salt water, and I...
Boy was I excited to find this old thread, but unfortunately it didn't work well for me.
I cnc'd three mirrors from an old WD IDE hard drive and slapped them in. The losses were about 8W per...
The stuff I get from the hobby store here in the US is OK in a pinch, but the interior is very inconsistent and contains knots and glue pools. This creates areas don't cut easily, right next to...
Thanks for the tips on ebaysoft. Amazing how much work people put into ripping other people off. What if they just applied themselves to doing a normal job?!?
Really? New in box? I don't know, I'd say if you buy from a US seller and use Paypal, it seems pretty safe. Educate me with links and such, guys. I guess I'm at risk of falling for whatever...
You can buy the upgrade on ebay pretty cheap. I use a old computer with XP, and I find X6 runs fine without anything slowing down. It does take 5-10sec for Corel to start, that's the only...
Hi Lucas,
This output looks like what I got one time when the engrave data was simply too massive. Machine got confused at some point and skipped steps, giving slices of the image that were...
Hi,
Low to medium power CO2 lasers will not engrave metal. They can remove anodization from aluminum, and can anneal thermark into a marking, but marking firearms is YAG territory. Or >100W of...
Smoke damage, or just residue? That fast orange stuff that epilog suggests does a pretty amazing job of removing tar as far as I am concerned. I got it in Lowe's near the tools/sawblades.
Yes, I saw - 80mm. I think there's plenty of space but i will check tonight. I did ask them to quote mounts as well, but around $350 doesn't sound too bad.
Wow, 60W in 1050mm? That's much better than average. So while I wait for Monday in China for my Alibaba reply, does anyone know the recent price list of these EFR tubes?
Thanks Bill and Jim for your suggestions. Bill - nice work on that engraving there!
Since I last checked in, I've tried acrylic with no mask (fail without sanding) and green tape/clear/spraypaint...
The current tube is 1000mm, although there's a door that can be removed to stuff in a larger one.
Any advice for manufacturers of 50W tubes and power supplies? Actually, I'm happy with my tube but the PSU is junk - unstable at high power with the good old hissing noise and fine lines in acrylic...
Thanks, fellas! So it seems like sealing after engraving is one big step I'm missing, that's good advice which I will try this evening.
So for my lunchtime Lowes run - what type of making...
That IS fast!
Now that, my friend, is pure genius! I shall drill me a toothbrush in the morning.
Now how many beers is your licensing fee?
