I actually use 3M Peltor X4A and I really like them. They are a bit smaller and much less bulkier than the larger options but have good reduction ratings as well.

I just had three 8" jointer knives sharpened for $15 buck.
Welcome to Utah, what brings you here? What part of Utah are you moving to and what type of shop will you be opening here?
I think any decent 8" Jointer in running condition under $500 is a decent deal. I don't know a ton about this model but I would say if its not warped and it runs well that $300 would be a great buy...
That is a great looking router table. What router are you using in it?
Thanks Phillip. I am pretty excited about the score. I am lucky enough to have a very flexible job that allows me some time everyday to check local listings. I have purchased almost everything for my...
Yes Lowell I bought the jointer several years ago but I am just now getting around to getting the DC hooked up to it and thought I would ask the group currently what my best options are when it comes...
Thanks Glen. This was exactly the info I was looking for. I probably should have made a new post just asking specifically who uses a 4" port on an 8" jointer and how it works for them.
Thanks Sam. I am OK leaving it how it is but the current dust connector is lacking. It is home made and with the use of Velcro it has collected sawdust on it and is now basically falling off. I have...
So I am finally getting this Jointer up and working in my shop and I am trying get the dust collection dialed in. When I purchased it from the last owner it had this sheet metal fitting attached via...
500 bones is insane for a tool of its kind but you all make me want to go out and buy one. Insanely overpriced. I could see if it was $300. Geez the peer pressure.
They made custom mantels so I don't think they used it very often. He had to rummage around for a piece to show me. The motor is still really strong and seems to be fine at this point.
Ok I picked up the saw today. Haven't spent a ton of time looking at it but officially it is a Delta Unisaw 36-812. By the looks of the serial number I am guessing it might have been made in 1991?...
Thanks for all the info. I went and looked at the saw this morning. It was well used but in good shape. It has been used since new in a custom mantel shop but very small location, maybe 1500 sq feet....
I have the chance to be the first person to purchase this saw in the morning. I don't know anything about it other than these three pictures and that it has been used in a cabinet making shop. I...
Hey Andrew. Thanks for the thread. I also live in SLC and I am thinking of doing something very similar although I am probably a year or two away.I am just getting my shop up and working as...
The shop is coming a long a bit. All the flooring is in, the hard wiring is done, walls are going up and I sprayed the ceiling a dark gray color. I went with recessed canned lights to give me the...
A few members here suggested cheap laminate flooring as a good option. I looked around and ended up going with some Laminate flooring from Costco that was on sale and I have really liked it. It ended...
I have this DeWalt glue gun and have been very pleased with its performance.

I have always loved old DeWalt RAS. I used to work for DeWalt for several years and since then I have always wanted a smaller one for my shop. I have been looking for a nice MBC or MBF for some time...
Nick thanks for input. I have been thinking the same thing over the last few months and I have decided to move the dust collector across the hall to the other closet so it will be by itself. I am...
I have been working on getting the framing complete and I have now moved on to the electrical and running a sub-panel. I am hoping to have it complete by the end of summer. I will post pictures soon....
I came across one of these today and I am bit interested. Anyone have any experience with them and if so was it positive? Any advantage this would have over a traditional router set up? I can't quite...
Thanks Charley. This is exactly the info I was looking for.
I have been looking for a nice scroll saw to add to the shop. It won't be used a ton but every Christmas I get the itch to do some scroll work and possible give out some awesome ornaments as gift...
