Usually around 1/3 from the lowest setting. But it depends on how full my bag is. I find my Festool Mini loses a lot of suction when the back gets past 80% or so full. Just adjust the suction higher...

With what bit? My spindle's slowest speed is 9000 rpm, which is too fast for a drill bit. And I've never seen a 1/4" bit with more than 1.25" depth of cut.
Here's the rough instruction image...
Even if you peck drill taking, say, 1/2" depth bites at a time?
Congrats!! You will really, really enjoy using Festool products. Remember to turn the suction down on the vac when using the sander. Otherwise it'll rock and jump all around on you due to the suction.
Maybe sand it and smell. Walnut is unique in its smell.
It looked more like walnut in the first photos, but now it doesn't look like walnut at all. Do you have an end grain pic? Also wipe some mineral spirits on it and take a photo. That might help.

Yes. As I think about it, though, they've always been low grit disks. So the dust flying everywhere might have been more about the quantity of material I was removing than the dust collection...
It's a question of how well you want the dust collection to work.
Not really, unfortunately. I donated all my Diablo sanding disks to a local school's woodshop :)
Any of the non-Rotex ROS options would be good for cutting boards and smaller furniture. I've done all sorts of trays, boards and furniture with my ETS-EC 125, and it works beautifully so long as you...
Those look great! Where did you get the wire cutters? I found cheeseslicing.com as a source.
Yeah, 250 of them will try my patience. Fortunately I can spread out production over 5 months....
Do the research for sure, and you will eventually come to a conclusion. And then you'll end up buying another Festool sander. And then maybe another! I started with the ETS-EC 125 for finish sanding....
I doubt I could get more than 1.25" of depth with a carbide router bit, and the spindle spins too fast for a regular drill bit.
Appreciate the ideas in this thread. I am hoping to make this process as quick and repeatable as possible. My hesitation with a doweling jig is that I have to attach, detach, and reattach the jig...
Hello,
I have a project coming up for 250 cheese boards. To install the integrated wire slicer/handle, I have to drill 1/4" holes, 4" deep, right smack into the center of the end grain in a...
Epoxy is so temperamental. I would strongly advise you to make something smaller than a river table first so that you can keep messing with epoxy, how much and how to pour, using the torch etc. The...
Hello,
I’m in the process of gluing up a panel for what will be a 48” round walnut kitchen table at 1.25” thick. Boards are 5.5” (ish) wide. The panel wider than usual for me. I’m using five 8mm X...
Hi,
I’m filling cracks and voids in live edge slabs with west systems epoxy. For the long thin cracks in particular, I seem to keep getting pin hole gaps along the way and it looks pretty bad....
I appreciate everyone's responses. I thought I would update the thread with some of my research findings. Interestingly, some shops that I spoke to will produce a 4x8 panel cheaper than smaller...
I researched this to death. If I had decided on a 2x3 machine, it definitely would have been the Camaster Stinger 1 with spindle. For whatever reason their pricing is really strong for that machine...
I led the effort to design a "makerspace" for the school where I used to work. It was, more than anything, a woodshop. From my research and experience, I have a couple design considerations to share...
I appreciate the words of caution. I do have some ideas, and I hope they are unique!
I don't expect to compete with the talented CNC operators or the large production facilities. But I do expect...
The shopbot is on order. I'm just starting my own business, so I'm tooling up and trying to make some decisions. I've learned to buy slowly and as needed.
Part of my plan with the shopbot...
Glad to hear it! That was my thought. Thanks.
I am moving into a new shop. Thinking about the miter saw...I have access to some used kitchen base cabinets. They are in good shape and there's no top. I can get one 36" and two 30", which is pretty...
