Hi Jay,
I went the Norm route - yes if I did it again I would laminate both sides of the MDF top but ply for the cabinet is the way to go.
Here are some pics and progress on one I built a few...
Robert,
Beautiful work in a great tradition, finishing would have been the least of my worries :o
I have the Greene book and have admired that piece, the proportions are excellent and you have done it justice, the finish also looks good, well done.
What use is it likely to see? Triton for table work, DeWalt for hand held.
Hi Jason,
Thanks for the reply. Masterton, never been there but myself and the wife are trying to get to NZ for hols soon.
Normally I would work with woods like River Redgum, Tasmanian...
Jason another great piece, hopefully you can find the time to keep them coming along - now you have the apprentice up to speed too, Well done.
Those proces are mind boggling though - you don't want...
Hi Leslie,
One option from left field might be to go with something like the Gifkins Dovetail Jig. It includes variable spacers as an add-on. Rated highly by an FWW review earlier this year /...
Ha ha, excellent, keep thinking he's straight off an episode of Cops, you know just before they burst in those steel doors and start asking the hard questions:D
Brian / Don,
Thanks for the info, I gotta admit I tried searching on the Delta site and even emailed the company who only reiterated the blurb at Amazon. I'll try to do further searching. Also...
Thanks Chris, will have a look.
Anyone know if the Beismeyer work in a JET JPS-10 ? Or where I could find out? I know Don said it works in his JET but not sure if the model makes a difference.
Cheers.
Nice Brett, not sure from the pics but could you add a stop block to allow repeatable positioning of the wood on the jig? That ply is useful stuff!
Thanks Jim, should have realised it would be here:D
Hi Yolanda,
Nice thread here. Here's a nice little chisel summary from Bob Smalser on another site http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?t=13082
I've just put in an order...
One word...unbelievable:eek:
Real nice Jim, made a chest of drawers look much more interesting with the doors but still functional - good stuff. Would like to see inside but guess the little fellas making good use of it by now....
I put in an order for some DVD / VCR's on carving, ball & claw etc.. that I couldn't seem to find anywhere else and received a quote. Goods around US$90, shipping (Australia) over US$100 - no express...
Thanks for all the comments guys, you're right I was trying to think of a way to make the door panels lighter than the rest of the cabinet but will give the comments some thought.
Cheers.
Hi,
I've been reading some of the advice on Cherry on here and have concluded that it is not exactly the easiest wood to finish . I managed to source some cherry (expensive here!) for a...
A plan and some photos here...http://www.grampasworkshop.net/glue-up.html
I can recommend the Huey book - great stuff, lots of pics and detail. The FWW article on 21st century gooseneck mouldings is also good. I think resorting to hand tools is generally only on the last...
I like it Kristina, think it would look great near a couple of 'human size' Adirondack's. Could you sell it - yes I think so, maybe try marketing it to either somewhere that already carries...
Thanks Ron, should have realised it was lacewood - looks extemely similar to some silky oak I've got.
Ron nice work, all look pretty useful. I especially like the crosscut sled - just out of interest what wood is used for the bulk of the stopblocks on the sled?
