yes that is only engraved not color filled, some areas look darker than others, I hear what you saying and that is kinda what I was thinking as well, to brush something on the case...

I etch very small details on bamboo, so masking it with tape and then paining sounds great until I will need to remove the mask, PITA!!

I dont have one, from the specs on Microsoft`s site, it should run the program, but 4GB of memory is a little small (in my opinion) and its not upgradeable , and for super expensive machine to run...

But heres another question, if I try ti use 80-90% black, isent lowering the power or speeding up the speed will cause the same results?

I was under the impression that banding only happens in images and not in vectors art? I know with photos you need to match the DPI for it not to band, what about vector art?

I got some macbook pro tops, I etched some random vector art on it (RGB black) and where there is alot (I mean not just line, like a solid circle like the photo) I see this banding looking effect...

I think CD v11 converts it to BMP because IL will open it just fine and it is a vector.

Every now and again, I find really nice vectors online and they are made for Illustrator but they are still .EPS, I searched everywhere and I cant find how to open it in Corel, when I do open it,...

I have seen online people engrave the ipad all the way to the edge with 1 run of the laser, i would love to know how they do it, mine gets out of focus and the curve.
