Hey Collin,
I think that is a great project that you can get a lot of satisfaction from. As for, is it too much for someone who is "basically a beginner?" It depends. If you keep an open mind...
Well, aside from a few hundred every year for the past decade, I'd say most recently I've spent a notable amount.
2011 - $3000
2012 - $2000
2013 - so far, $2500

Amazing craftsmanship. Well done.
Ian, I think that is something us "big city" folk do take for granted. I am originally from a very small town and I remember struggling with exactly that. Then, the internet and big shipping...
Hi Danny,
It is a General 40-130 Dust Collection Kit. I bought it at Atlas Machinery in Ontario, Canada but I have seen it sold online by many different retailers.

It required some modifying but it turned out quite well...

Incredible detail! Looks amazing.
A true work of art. Well done
Hey everyone,
I have finished the pine dresser and a matching bedside table. It was a learning experience and there are some things I would do a bit better if I had a second go at it but I am...
Peter, you are right on the money. I took Mr. Becksvoort's 4 drawer chest and added two drawers. I find his work very inspirational.
That chest is fantastic! Great job and amazing details
+1 on the Benchdog! I have it on my Ridgid TS3650 and it is rock solid and extremely precise!
I finally finished building the drawers and I will post some pictures once I locate my camera! They don't fit as absolutely perfect as I would have liked but they open and close and don't have that...
I spent some time in the shop working on my son's dresser. Its coming along quite well and I am just waiting for some wooden knobs from LV then I will begin finishing it. Pictures will follow...
Great bookcase! Those dovetails look tight! Nice job.
Fantastic job! That pine looks really nice! Another great idea for my pine dresser
