I have to agree with Pam..try it first..scraping is an option but if you're not familiar with the technique I would recommend testing on a junker first..another option to sandpaper is drywall...

the newer screw might not fit your casting...the depth stop will be the same but the screws they provide now have a different thread

Stanley never made planes by our dating/typing system. there are plenty of "in transition" plane made (between types with features of both)..I've seen T-16's with rosewood knob & tote and brass nuts...
best advice I can give...buy a complete plane with ALL the parts. There's nothing worse than trying to complete a 45 combination by trying to find parts and pieces..and it'll probably cost you...

the No.112's have a similar knob to the early No.4 sized Stanleys..low knob..beaded if you got it..no bead is correct also. Don't have an extra right now..but we're coming into the right...
Tom, would you have a different angle picture..especially the profile..does it have a raised "back end: that you can press your palm into? Might be a Sargent..Is it a pressed steel body?
