Help me Dave, what is a bridle joint?
That is about what I had in mind. Since you made the bottom connecting did you have to put a support between the leggs?
Without the braces the frame is not stable enough. At least the way I put it together. The joints are half-laped. What joint would you suggest for the frame?

I have been working on this off and on for a while. I like the design of the [ shape so it can slide under the sofa and up to you as you sit. I have made modifications to the proto-type which I do...

Thanks for the tips guys. I think my major problem was the lid did not line up square. I took Mac's advice and sanded the sides & front down to make it fit after I installed the hinges. Also I think...
This was a learning experience for me. This box was inspired by a picture Mac posted as a Gentleman’s Box. I have a way to go but for 1st try I think it came out pretty good. It is to be a Father's...
I have made my 1st hand cut dovetail box. Got it finished out and waxed. Now I am trying to install the hinges and I can not get the lid to line up right:mad: . Box is ~11" by 5". I want to thank Mac...
Mac...thanks for the tips. I have started working on a box like yours for my Dad. It is my 1st attempt at hand cut dove tails. Not even close to yours but for a newbe I think I did pretty good. :) ...
Thanks...looks a lot better than mine. I still have a lot to learn in SU. I did use components but mine do not stay on plane like yours. I will look at the dimension tool. Also I did not finish the...
Thanks Mac...One more question...when you say glued to the sides..Is it just grain to grain or are you using some type of joinery. Thanks again.

Love the box. Help a newbe. I do not see a seam for the top. How is it attached to the sides/front?
I would love to set at that table and play cards. On second thought I would not pay attention to the game while looking at that great table.

Jamie,
You are correct about the seam and bolting it together onsite. Yes it would fit in the Blazer in one piece but with 2 adults and 2 kids in car seats with luggage I am thinking I at least...
I want to build the grandkids an activity table with some space to store crayons and paper. This is what I have come up with. The table needs to be disassembled for transport in a Blazer. By doing...
John,
My floor was 12" square vinyl glued (and stapeled?) to the hardwood floor. I used a large flat nose shovel to get most of it. The sturdy kind not a snow shovel. Then went back with a sturdy...
Bob,
I like your suggestion on the base. If I go with this idea what is the best way to remove the legs I have glued on, TitebondII? Also think I will not do anything to the lid.

Sorry was reading instructions to post pics. Will repost to correct forum.
