I have used the 19s for years and it works well. I prefer the signiture to not take up too much room on the piece. Hard to control depth that the pen tip goes into the wood with the 9, at least for...
I build one very much like this and it works quite well. I use a 1/2" square bar with a carbide cutter. Couldn't have had more than $15.00 in it less the cutter.

Formica works much better if it is sanded down to .015-.020 thickness, sand off the surface that has the pattern on it. If left at the thickness of the countertop material it's hard to get hot...
Been doing this for years with a standard PVC fitting, works fine. Get the closed cell foam at Hobby Lobby
When I saw Jimmy Clews demo he said take it off and use it for the barby. Mine is not attached to the lathe.
It was on display at AAW in KC in June

Great timber, that kind does not come along every day.
Way to go, wish you were just a little closer. Pretty big deal, especially if it is the first time for something like this.
Our church has installed a columbarium, urns from the manufacturer are 5.5x5.5x7 or 212 cu. in. The manufacturer assures me that this volume will hold cremains of the vast majority of folks. ...
Tom at JT is having some health issues and having a slow recovery. I am positive he will make good on any orders as soon as he is able. Since he is a one man operation it will take him a little...
I have the J and use it some but does not seem as handy as I thought it would be. Just use a 12" straight rest the majority of the time.
