Thanks all for your input(s). I'll look into those recommendations and hopefully there will be a new set of woodshop screwdrivers in my future.
The contrast between the walnut and ebony is very tasty. Beautiful attention to detail and craftmanship.
Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments.
Jack: The guys who commisioned these projects were clear - they wanted "firearm display units" :) and they didn't want them to, "look like every other...
Hi all.
I'm in need of good quality "woodworking" (whatever that means to anybody) screwdrivers - flat and phillips - and looking for recommendations. My criteria are this: hardened tips that...
A while back I started a thread looking for ideas of gun cabinet plans/design. After morphing a lot of ideas and other plans together, I came up with working drawings and started in on building two...
Hi all.
I thought I'd post some pics of the gun cabinet I delivered earlier this month. It is 4/4 maple with a light stain and Minwax polyurethane to match some other furniture and the overall...
Thanks to all. I think Jim is right. It looks like I'll simply have to use the critial dimentions from the more classic gun cabinets and convert them to match what style my client is looking for. ...
That's a good plan, but I feel like I've "seen it before". I guess by "tired" I mean the typical Colonial/early American design of the carcase, molding, edge treatments, etc. that gun cabinets...
Has anyone designed/built anything new with gun cabinets? I'm looking for something other than the tired, old plans that we all see when looking for gun cabinet plans. Perhaps a design that is more...
Congratulations on a fine purchase! I love mine and it is perhaps the best investment in a "tool" that I ever made.
I'm definately going the zero-clearance route. I wonder how many others out there should do the same up-grade.
Andrew: On my saw the stock throat plate clearance to the left of the blade is...

I'd love to see the pics, but for some reason they are not coming up. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Anyone else not seeing the pics?

I'm in the process of installing the ductwork for my Oneida Dust Gorilla. I'm the kind of guy who gives a lot of attention to detail and likes things to be "purdy" as well as function nicely... a...
Thanks for the feedback, everybody. I think I have some ideas and will put pencil to paper and report back with any progress. With my history of slow working speed, I hope to have some sawdust made...
Yikes! I just looked at that. Very nice, but too ornate for my needs. I'm looking for more like something that can go up against a wall. I may be able to incorporate some of Norm's design...
Thanks Lee. I'll check it out.
I'm wondering if anyone has ideas and/or plans for a wine storage rack. I'm envisioning something constructed of cedar or redwood with sort of an open design with lots of dados for strength.

There's nothing like good shop time to restore one's energy and mood. Good for the soul too. I'm envious and hope to do likewise this spring.
Like I tell my family, "Daddy's gonna...

I have a Gorilla on order and was hoping to discover an alternative mounting option to the wall bracket or the stand and your idea was just what I was hoping to find.

I love the look of that box. I happen to have some curly maple that is just begging me to make a box out of it.
Do you have have plans or a working drawing? I can't really get a...
Alder can be tricky to finish. I've built with Alder and have had very nice results with Minwax products. I used their Wood Conditioner followed by a Gel Stain and topped with coats of wipe-on...
