I will second some thoughts here anyway: the helical head is worth it and used is the way to go for a jointer. I put in a helical head in my old 8"powermatic and couldn't be happier with it.

Thanks, Patrick. That's great advice - I'll give them a call!
Does anyone know if the jig will work with the infinity lock miter shaper setup?
I would give some consideration to the Laguna 12/16. I got the table extension with mine and have loved it!
I give them to the local FFA so the kids can use in their display stalls at fairs. They look fancy and the pigs love it. All wood shavings are welcome with pigs.
Lowe's (gasp!) had solid oak, 6 panel doors that were even pre- hung on solid oak sides for just under $200. I shellac'd them and hung them, we couldn't be happier with how they've worked for the...
Any ideas on how best to find the leak?
Sorry about the thread resurrection, but Prashun's last comment caught my attention. I have a 2ho Oneida Super Dust Gorilla, it's never been used, but I bought it about 7 years ago. It's a metal...
Thanks guys. I was able to use a Fernco fitting and heat the one end in boiling water enough to slip it over the 7" metal duct. Onto hanging the pipe from the ceiling now...and 6" pipe looks a lot...
We just put in an order for a A3-41 for our MHS tech department. They projected December for delivery as well. Can't wait, it'll be a huge improvement over what's currently in the wood shop!
I'm a one man shop with an 8" pm60 jointer, a pm100 planer, 17"grizzly bandsaw, sawstop, router table and an old shaper. 6" ducts reduced to 4" directly at the machine should be plenty. I have...
I bought a 2hp SDG (with the yellow metal cone) quite a few years ago and never installed it. I really hate ladders and ductwork. Anyway it's time to finally install it. I have 6" s&d and...
The G3 requires "pen jaws" to hold material smaller than 1". Our primary material right now is acrylic and we drill on the lathe along with using the woodpeckers ultra sheer mill for squaring the...
I took some videos of what was going on and Nova sent me out a new chuck. The chuck itself arrived today and I measure less than .001 runout on just the chuck. However, it appears I also have a...
Well the first thing I would do is to write down everything that happened ASAP. Include everything, times, names of the driver and people you called and date/ time of the call. Then, take lots...
Very interesting information. I don't believe it is the lathe either, especially since they is very little (~.001) runout on a drive spur in the taper. However I will have to check the threads to...
Any updates to this thread. I'm troubleshooting an issue with the same symptoms. Revo 12-16 and a Nova G3 chuck with penturning jaws. Nova is showing .025 runout with a .5" router bit in the...
Does anyone know if you have the Sawstop PCS with the 52" rails, can you still add the router table to the right of the saw? How will the rails attach?
Your Carter tires are to thin. I went with the "blue max" ones mentioned above and couldn't be happier.
Every woodworker has their own way...I prefer the helical head in my jointer. Every board goes through the jointer and IMHO both the jointer and planer greatly benefit from the helical head. When I...
I have a PM60 with a Byrd head and a 1.5hp motor. No issues with power at all and I use a lot of qswo and hard maple. You'll love the new head!!

I finally can show off the holiday bowls! The hard maple and black walnut one (left) is for my wife and the hard maple and cherry one (right) is for my mom. Both are finished with...
What are your cutting needs? I have a Stihl ms361 with a 16" bar that I use for 90% of my cutting. For big stuff I have a Husky 372xpw that wears a 20" or 24" inch bar. I'm always cutting...
You are right Chris, I was talking about the old pm180. Built like a tank and weighs add much too!
The Powermatic is a far superior machine, by far. I have the little brother in pea green when a Byrd head. It's one of my favorite machines in the shop. The caveat for you, is the 180 is so...
