you need to make a sled to secure your stock to prevent that roll. I broke too many blades to rolll before I decided to prevent any roll.

Looks more like pitch pockets to me. I just recently picked up similar boards at lowes. They were pockets of pitch all over most of them still weeping.

How would you flatten a wide cupped board? plane both sides?
Rip cut them then work with the much less cupped boards? Would it even be safe to rip cut on a bandsaw?
