That looks exactly like my Harbor Freight 8" jointer which I happen to think is a fantastic jointer, especially for the price. The jointer flattens boards perfectly. It's just a different color...
I have the Tolpin book as well and think it's fantastic. I haven't read the others, but feel that you can't go wrong with this one.
I learned a lot from Norm. I wish him well. His shows will live on through reruns I'm sure.
There's a pretty nice basic workbench at the Getting Started in Woodworking site.
Just scroll to the building a workbench video and they will show how to build a rock solid workbench with MDF...
I have Jets and Stanleys. I like them both very much, but reach for the Jets first.
I came across this the other day and thought it was interesting.

My G0513x2 spins for a lot longer than that. It's never been a problem for me.
Although a brake sounds like a nice feature, it's not something that I've missed or needed.
If it is in good mechanical condition, $200 seems like a fair price for it.
The craftsman zip code saw, or it's Steel City hybrid cousin are very nice saws.
I've gotten my money's worth from Amazon Prime also. Free 2 day shipping is fantastic!
I had the 700 pound base on my bandsaw and hated it. It moved terribly.
I moved locations recently and didn't bother to put it back on. I've considered replacing the casters on it, but for now...
I've had mine for a while now and still love it as much as when I got it. The newness has worn off, but I have no desire to upgrade. It's a solid saw and a fantastic deal.
For a riving knife, you might want to check out the ************ from Bob Ross.

I haven't tried it personally, but have...
OK, the OP needs to get ripped on this one. He started a thread bashing a company with false information. Grizzly did not take his money on a back ordered item as he stated in his original post. ...
I thought they weren't supposed to charge your card until it shipped?
Anyway, I'm sure they'll refund your money if you decide to cancel. I'm also sure they didn't mean to offend, trick, or rip...
I have one and am very happy with it. Bang for the buck it's hard to beat.
Very true. However, if you were to mess up and get your finger, hand, or arm on the blade it will stop and that's worth a lot if it ever happens.
I will be buying a SS in the near (within 2 years) future. Medical bills alone would cost far more than the saw if I were to screw up.
It's a premium saw at a premium price and as such, I would...
One of the magazines did a roundup of sanders a while back. If I recall correctly, the Ridgid won top honors in that test. It's only about $70.
I'm getting ready to start building my first real workbench and started to acquire some parts. I'm planning on building something in the style of an Ian Kirby bench from the Scott Landis book. ...
I'd take a look at the Grizzly's. The G0513x2 is a great saw and would come in under your budget since it's $995 and has free shipping right now. It's a 17" saw, but the footprint isn't much...
Joe,
I have a G0513x2 and have it wired for 110. It was very easy and didn't take long at all (minutes if I remember correctly.) It took a lot less time to re-wire it than it did to assemble...
I've had a Steel City granite saw for a few months now with no problems. I did purchase a used Unisaw once with a slightly warped table that probably would have been fine to use but drove me nuts. ...
I'd go for the 19".
As mentioned, deals like that are rare and you will be able to tackle a much more broad range of projects with it.
The Rockwell is a good bandsaw, but a good used 14"...
