Really, really nice, Scott.
Damn that's cool. I'm drooling!
As memory serves, I used Johnson's floor wax prior to engraving...then wiped down. Came out nice, but still stunk! I put the pieces in a plastic bag with some cat litter, which took the edge off :)
James, I don't normally visit the design forum, but I'm glad I did today! Your table is beautiful. Most of my stuff has been relatively small scale CNC or laser work, but I've got access to a...
You might want to try polymer clay as well. I tried the Inlace and wasn't thrilled with it. You can get polymer clay at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. It comes in a variety of colors, but I like the...
Love it, Stan. Really nice work!
Thanks, Nicolas. I'll have to give that a shot. I've converted several reliefs to gray scale and then lasered them, but never the reverse!
You should be pleased with it, Nicolas. Nice work! I've done some scales with the laser, but never tried it with the CNC. Did you use gray scale artwork?
"LIKE!" Very nice, Stan. Love the medium mix.
Very, very cool, Stan!
Jodi, did you ever have any luck cutting through the cork backing? I may have another job coming up and from the sound of it, you have/had the exact issue I had. On some of them, I wound up cutting...
I ran into the same problem not too long ago, although I did not get the cork from Lasersketch. I wound up having to do multiple passes at high power, and yes, I did burn the edges of the cork. ...
Couldn't you just change the fill properties on the text in Corel?
Very nice, Stan. Haven't check out the youtube yet, what did you use for fill?
292333 As promised, here's one I did with powder coat. This is one of those 1/2" thick (or so) fascia bricks. I'm using it for a larger project. Ran this one twice at 5% speed, 100% power, 600...
Thanks guys. I got my Epilog second hand and didn't get a "tool". I'll check out their site.
Pete, I realize this sounds incredibly ignorant, but how do you focus without the plunger? Thanks!
Wasn't bad mess wise. Took forever to get a decent depth. I had to run it at 1% speed 100% power. Then I applied powdercoat twice at 100% speed and 10% power (I believe). Gave the test piece away...
I have had success engraving letters in bricks and then re-lasering with black powder coat fill.
Haven't tried it, but Airwolf has an assemble yourself unit for about $1,300. A buddy of mine just bought an upscale model from them for his workplace and seems pretty impressed with it.
Norris, I have a couple of CNC's as well as a laser. I love to use both types of machines but there are definite advantages to either depending on what it is you are doing. Personally, I found the...
Thanks again, Mike.
Thanks, Mike. Did you use two panels, one w/blue lights and one with white, or is the white showing because its mounted on a white background?
Hi all. I've been reading postings on edgelit signs until I'm just about blue in the face:) I've finally (I think) sourced my materials, but have a couple of questions: Is a 12" high cast acrylic...
