Good golly that is gorgeous, What a wonderful piece.
Bill, it is really the motor that is important here, take a look at the ID plate and look for a posible wiring diagram. On some motors/switches wires will be common(redundent).
Well done Jeff, great presentation, wonderful piece.
Very nice plate Bernie. I think the grain pattern and design are quite visually pleasing.
Yes, I also agree that these common sense safety procedures are a requirement, not a recomendation. I've been turning for a while and must admit to making some real bonehead safety errors, like...
Nice visual interest to this bowl good job.
Nice vase, like this one a lot. Well done sir.
Mike, don't be too hard on yourself, that is a nice looking piece. A lot of mulberry pieces don't look as good as this one.
Good job.
Tom, as mentioned a steady rest is quite simple to make on your own. Will require only a few hours in the shop. The wheels and bearings will be the bigest expense unless you can find a set at a yard...
Wonderful piece, well done.
What a wonderful piece. I agree that elevating the hollow form was a very nice touch. Beautiful!!
Thanks for the kind comments.
Dewey, I won't know that until our next meeting in January.
This piece the the result of a challenge at our last AAW chapter meeting. When the Buckeye was raffled off, the member that brought it in challenged the winners (2) to create lidded boxes for the...
Jeffery, I have been using "Valspar Luster Lac Premium" water white lacquer, 550 VOC, 90 sheen, nac1119. This lacquer is indeed water white and stays that way. Note that it is a spray lacquer only....
There is nothing ordinary about that piece, yes the segmentation is muted, but the form (size), design, and craftmanship are superb.
Well done.
I really like those Bernie. Well done.
For some time I used paste wax, them someone told me to try WD40 instead. WD40 will displace the moisture on the lathe surfaces plus keep any potential for rust a thing of the past. Keep in mind that...
Also keep in mind that the time of year plays into the length time the item needs for drying. When the Rh is low the piece will dry faster, even when double baged (the method I use). Don't be in a...
Good looking piece. Are you turning to finished wall thickness with green wood?
Very nice pieces, Jack. Those will make special Christmas gifts indeed. My favorite is the third piece, well done on all three.
Very nice design, Mike, and the execution of that design is outstanding. I would expect that void caused some pause for thought based on how thin the piece appears to be.
Well, the big guns spoke first on this post:D and I will whole hardily agree with them. What a nice piece. You do still have all your fingers after making this piece, right?:D
That piece has a lot of character, looks like some shimmer in the wood also. Very nice.
Looks like it could be Juniper??????
