It's been a real long time but I'm pretty confident my saw didn't have any graded bolts (neither does my unisaw for that matter). Also hard to believe that a grade 5 bolt used in this capacity would...

I have a Wolverine setup on a slow speed grinder and a tormek with all the bells and whistles. And as much as I tried to like the jigs for turning tools, I go to the platform and sharpen by hand for...
John, thank you, exactly what I was curious of. Kudos again.
John, beyond impressive, far beyond. Thank you for sharing these images, they're inspiring.
Two questions if you don't mind. 1) is there any chance you have a couple shots of under the writing...
The pals kit will fix the misalignment.

Not much to add a the solutions provided should work. Just wanted to say, hey, that was my very first table saw. And yeah, the fence was frustrating.
The only other thing I'll add, is look into a...
I really like the sea horses. Very nice work carving those up. Also, the color grades quite nicely on the piece overall.
I wouldn't do this for the reasons mentioned above. You're going to need a work bench, I think there's zero way around that. Two solutions that may work is 1) simple top, hinged to the studs in the...
What a beautiful pattern in that burl. Nicely done.
Very unique and totally cool. I would display next to the other "aquatic" themed crab carving you did.
Thank you, Edward and thank you for the guidance.
So I got these done. I made the handle for the skew first then used it to make the other...I'm so impressed with the Thompson steel so far - can't stop making beads with it haha. The finish is a wash...
Each one of those looks off by the same amount on each opposite side... meaning something is really wrong. Re-align everything and start from scratch. Also, running a 5x5 piece of ply through the saw...
I've mixed coffee grinds with epoxy on some bigger knots. The grinds are nice for filler.
I like the clean look of that - my 1 3/8 just has a large space on either side, thanks for the tip.
Don, there's zero chance that the gouge is going to fit in a 1/2 inch hole as the shaft diameter is .515. I ordered a 33/64 but that should get here tomorrow. The 17/32 was just way too big.
This is nice to know, thanks for passing it along. I have a skew on order from Thompson (obviously not round stock) and I look forward to trying out the steel. I hear everyone rave about it.
My...
Those are pretty - I especially like the olive... I've looked into having olive wood sent over to me from Greece (my family has trees there) many times as it's dirt cheap there but there's no...
I'm masochistic I suppose but I love working with maple... trick is to do what the wood wants, not what you want lol.
You mention bark, were they entire limbs? If so, they'll have the pith still and that will cause cracks and/or deformities. Making the moisture content kind of moot.
Edit: I should mention...
Thanks for the encouragement! I'll keep at it and those wands look pretty decent for firsts especially.
I think it's the size of my skew (and the lack of experience of course) that's an issue for me. I have a 1 1/4" that feels too big in my hands when I try and roll it and a 3/4" that mostly works ok...
No time yesterday and I'm jammed with work this week but finished up for the day and hopped on the lathe to make my handle. It was going great until the very end when I tried to peel back the end...
Bob, not sure what I was thinking in that particular post. The bit is 17/32. Good catch.
Even better and a great tip - thank you, Dave.
