    60X60 is for shipping

The 60" X 60" or 5 by 5 is sized to fit a standard shipping container.

  2. Biscuits are made for rough plywood construction

Biscuits and pocket holes are a great way to do this kind of rough construction. I would use either or both if the notion suited me. I have built my garage cabinets from melamine sheets and used...

    Barry well said

You did a much better job of explaining this than I ever could.

Should have said "up to a 70 Amp breaker"

I know I'm not the best at explaining this, but the hard part is to get past the breaker being larger than the wire size would indicate. The breaker in a motor circuit is to protect against ground...

I don't have a dog in this hunt

except to say that if you have bought an Onieda DC, that if you send them a layout of your shop they will send you a duct layout back that will be correct for your system.

Here is what the NEC says,

5HP = 28 amps full load current, x 125% for wiring and devices, and 250% for the circuit breaker.

    3 HP = 17 amps, X 125% = 21.25 wire or 12 gauge, with a 45 amp breaker

    5 HP motors that's 8...
  7. Ain't No Tool I Don't Want

I don't really have a need for a computer controlled robotic welder but I sure would like to have one if I could afford it. If it's a tool want it.

The Tables aren't the same width

I did the recall upgrade on my saw several years ago. Just to note the tables are not meant to be the same width, and your rip gauge will be off. Does anyone actually use the rip gauge? The new guard...

    Don't ignore it, though.

I have no issue with Popular Woodworking, I am a subscriber but have never had an issue like you describe, but having said that, I did have a magazine that was sent to me after I had mailed in one of...

    Sounds about right to me.

A subpanel with 4 circuits, all in conduit, plus 4 ceiling fans, installed with wall switches, I'd say that was a good quote, or at least it seems reasonable to me.

It is on the shelf in my local Menards. I don't know if you have those in Ar. though.

Magazines are what I like best about woodworking

Hey, I finally found a question I know something about. All I do is collect tools and read magazines.

For a beginning woodworker I would recommend Wood Magazine, Popular Woodworking, and...

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys

I think I'm an expert too. I am an industrial electrician with more than 30 years of service in chemical/pharmaceutical industries. I spent the first 15 years working in a dry powder processing...

Not less stress on the motor

In a dust collection system, more air is more load, opening a second valve away from your intended DC point increases the stress on the motor. The high pitched whine of a DC with the air pinched down...
  16. Some chance, but not much

If you ran your DC with no piping and no restrictor, you may cause an overload condition. If your dust collector is properly wired, and I have no reason to think that it isn't, then at most this...

    Try Norm's way

Norm built a rolling assembly table, a few years ago, with a neat hinged castor retraction system, raising the table would drop the castors which would be supported by hinged boards. Pulling up the...

  19. Let me take a stab at this

I think you are on the right track by posting your plans, and letting some of the old timers critique them. It lets you get some value from people with similar problems, and you still get to do it...

    All Batteries aren't the same

Comparing the Dewalt batteries to the Panasonic batteries is like comparing apples to oranges. The Dewalt and most other drills, have Ni-Cad batteries, while the Panasonic uses NMHds, the nickle...

    Shop by Price

I have 6 Jorgy's, 4 Irwin's, and 8 Harbor Freights, I can't tell any difference between them in use. I just shop by price, and that makes the Harbor Freights a no brainer.

    Thanks for the help

It looks like the consensus is to buy a miter gauge and then build a cutoff sled ala Norm. That's my intention.
    Thanks for all the help.

    TS Miter gauge/Sled ?

    Check the Code

I checked the 2005 NEC Book. It shows the full load current for a 1.5 hp motor on 115v is 20 amps, I am willing to say that the newer more efficient motors will beat this by some amount, but the...
  25. Electrical Layout

First I am assuming that you will find an electrician to do most if not all of this work, or at least have him check your work before it is hooked up.

I would leave the lighting on its existing...
