Ok, thanks. Any last min reason why I shouldn't do this? Figure since I'm getting more and more into woodworking, that I may as well make the investment sooner rather than later.

Haven't been on much lately, but am considering buying the domino 500. You guys that have it, do you buy your tenons or make your own? Seems like it would be cheaper to make your own so was just...
That's all metalworking stuff. The first one is a dial indicator along with a setup arm for it. #2 compass (no idea what the two things on the right are). #3 is a micrometer (Starret is good...
Should buy the jointer and flip it lol
Thanks all. Appreciate it. I hope it's quiet :) when it runs.
Anyone here have this? That sale at grizzly is pretty tempting. I have some bday and Christmas money saved up yet. This would be a stretch, but looks like a pretty nice planer. I'd love an old...
I can't afford any festool so I just use my dewalt and sand by hand. Good enough for now.
Just coming back to this. I ended up putting two coats of Waterlox on and it looks great. I might sand back with 6-800 grit and put on another coat but it looks great. Thanks
Thank you
I could use suggestions for a topcoat of this. I've made a small end table for my dad who since he has parkinsons he spills EVERYTHING. It's rock maple that has one coat of minwax on it then...
I have a few small sets of the 36" and like them a lot. They're certainly good enough for me.
Thanks. Yeah, I got some transtint and tried to mix some in with sealcoat as well as sealcoat that was diluted 50% and also some at 25%. I got bad streaking from wiping it on though and I couldn't...
I want a darker but same color that I have now. This is on maple with 1 coat of 50% diluted sealcoat on it then 2 coats of minwax pecan stain. It says if you want a 2nd coat to put it on within 4-6...
Would a local machinist be able to do this? I have a Hitachi P12RA and the blades cost a fortune.
I'm in hs and money is hard to come by. But my parents taught me to trust folks and to be trustworthy. If I get scammed then I get scammed but I'm not going to grow up not trusting anyone. That...
Provincial is my favorite on oak.
I've decided that I'm done working with maple. It's horrible and I haven't been happy with any finish I've tried. I've tried a ton of different tinted shellac mixtures with dye, and some dye mixed...
Don't rule out a used milling machine. They can sometimes be found uber cheap and then can be used for other things. We found an old Powermatic which is about 3/4 the size of a BP. Also have a...
Thanks everyone. Yeah, spray would be great but I don't have the money for a setup or the room, so it will be either rub on or brush (prefer rub). Thanks. I got two coats on with water/dye tonight...
Sorry for digging up an old thread Mr. Becker. But I have been trying to add transtint to a dye to use on rock maple and yeah, all the scrap I have tested on (by rubbing) looks horrible. So I want...
Thanks - I was hoping to learn to read the labels so I know how to figure this stuff out.
Got a can of shellac from a neighbor. How do I know if this is de-waxed or not and how do I know what pound cut it is? I'm hoping to get down to a 1lb cut and color it with some coffee transtint...
Thanks. I'll try wiping some on with the sealcoat then wiping off right after. Looking for something to help pop what little grain there is. Thanks
Do to poor planning I ended up using rock maple for a small night stand. There is very little nice grain pattern to it so I was thinking of experimenting with a trace coat. I'm still in hs so this...
I use them on grinders all the time for metal. There's nothing better for that but I would never use it on wood.
