Thanks Dee. This is one piece cut from 1/4" sheet of fine grain cork.
I've always liked the results with cork. My only complaint was the burnt edges when trying to cut thick pieces. The picture frame helps cover that up. I've used colored acrylic to cover it up.

I've had good success with Easel Backs from National Artcraft. They can stand or hang. Perfect sizes for 6x6 tiles. Attach with adhesive (E6000) or heavy duty melted glue stick.

I saw the post, but right now, I'm not looking to do this myself (too much time to get setup and good at it) - I want to find someone who can do this part of the job.
I need to find someone who can apply color printing to clear acrylic. In another forum, I saw the term "color laser transfer". Not sure if that's the best process, but I need the image for an...
I think it's imported from China and known as NV (no vein) Absolute Black.
The distributor here in New York has a web site http://www.estoneusa.com/
At 6 pounds per tile, I expect it's too...
Not sure what Bill will offer, but one thing I've found that really helps is removing the background from the subject. It keeps the engraving simple to recognize.
To remove the background, I still...
And one of the best products I discovered there was E6000 glue. You can find it elsewhere too.
E6000 is great for any projects where you're joining materials. A little bit on each piece; let sit...
and don't forget photo ornaments. I make dozens of these for friends to remember events of the past year.
John - did the sales rep who told you about the alcohol mention how much you need to drink before seeing improvements?
Another good source of supplies is National Artcraft. http://www.nationalartcraft.com/subcategory.asp?gid=12&cid=277&scid=170
I get wooden frames for the 6x6 lasertile or marble tile. Also get...
Thanks Frank. The images I posted of the 12" LED display is a good representation of the finished product. These images of the smaller ones doesn't come close to capturing the impact when the LEDs...
So glad to hear from you... now I can spend all my spare time :p thinking about tricking out a bus... or maybe a used Mr. Softee truck.
Did you ever try a Street Fair or Flea Market venue? If...
Mike - that's natural engraving, no fill (except text on the image of Sydney). If you cannot grab the zebra image from the forum, send me a private message with your email address. I'd be happy to...
I still contend that with the range of products we're calling marble, it's still worth taking 1 tile and printing 10-25 one-inch images (like my zebra) at different speeds and power. This is one...
Dan - I'm new to the site and don't see any prior images of your design. Do you have any posted?
Good point. Would probably need a way to stabilize during transport. How do those mobile groomers get all that equipment around without problems?
There's no place like home! There's no place like home! There's no place like home!:p
Is anyone ALREADY doing engraving work on-the-road?
I've been thinking about engraving at Street Fairs and Flea Markets - wondering if it's viable. Small stuff like tags.
I've tested out...
Sorry, my last post got stuck in the middle of the thread.
In addition to the 12" A/C displays, I also bought a bunch of small battery-powered displays that fade between blue-red-green. These are...
I got 12" A/C powered edge-lit strips, but company went under. Still have a lot, so anyone wants to buy some to play with (white LEDs only) send me a message.
I cut .220 or .236 acrylic. It's a...
I've found that the Laserdarc powders work fine for spot colors, but messy to work with. I keep work on a foil cookie tray while loading the powder and cleaning the excess. Make sure to store the...
I love working with marble and have the scars to prove it.
The key for me was finding great product. I thought Hard Laser Grade from Lasersketch was the best until I went to local tile stores and...
I would reach out to Frank Ricci. He makes all the anodized tags and probably does custom requests. http://www.chewbarka.com/
Raster should only be a minor drop in power - perhaps 20%
Vector will be significant. On a 35w, I'm cutting at 50s 30p 500f, compared to .125 plastic, which I cut at 25s 80p 500f.
