That's how we used to do it. Seems the new laser with 3x the power actually makes a worse job of it, I managed to pull apart over 50% of the batch I made today.
Perhaps with more power available...
Is is safe to cut two pieces of acrylic glued together with tensol? I notice in the contents it states 'Dichloromethane', the Chloro bit is concerning due to the well known issues with chlorine gas...
After having play around with our new Trotec we've realised that the (0,0) position on the ferro-magnetic table is different to the aluminium cutting grid, which comparison is (-1,-2).
The...
Yes it's fairly big, almost looks like we could fit the whole Speedy 100 inside it!
Automotive art engraved on anodised aluminium.
Some of you might remember me from a couple of years ago, I crowdfunded my first laser machine, a Speedy 100, with a specific product and had it installed in the box bedroom of my rented house. At...
Thanks for the input everyone. I think for the time being, I'll just not use any images until I have done some work of my own and can photograph that. :)
After spending the past two months setting up by business as a full time enterprise, I realise I've been focussing entirely on one side (the laser engraved products I make under my own brand) and...
Thanks! I've been doing a military Airbus A330-243 this week!
I have several test files I use for this now. Basically just 10 lines of text starting at 100P/100S, working up or down incrementally to say 10P/100S or 100P/10S, or any other combination. Each line...
I have a member of staff starting with me this week, I need to get his PC linked up to my Speedy100 but also be able to operate the laser from my own PC too. It's probably a really easy thing to set...

Was worried about doing this material what with its reflectiveness, but then I...
This is what I do for my artwork, buts it's a manual job and very time consuming.
my work is simple line art, so it's just a case of tracing over everything with the pen tool in illustrator.
That's a raster file. JPG/GIF/PNG etc are all raster files.
The smooth files that scale infinitely without pixellating are vector files. EPS/AI/PDF/DWG are some vector file types.
I have this problem quite a lot, though I do seem to have gotten it to acceptable levels now. If I am doing a file with a lot of black fill, I will now move the table down by 3mm and increase the...
The rule on logos is mainly applicable to using it in the drawing border, as if to give the impression it were an official Ford drawing. I do sometimes put the full logo on in the appropriate...
Thanks Mark! I personally draw the vast majority of the artwork from scratch using AutoCAD (I am a CAD draughtsman by trade) but occasionally I will buy the vector artwork (such as the Batmobile)...
Thanks Eric.
Here's an example image I posted on another thread here today, showing one of my pieces of work.

Interesting discussion here that is relevant to me as I design my own artwork for engraving, in fact my entire business revolves around it.
I am aware that some unscrupulous types may well be able...
Hi Buddy
The blueprint is one of my products, my business is creating custom drawn blueprint artwork (usually for people's cars) and then laser engraving it, typically on anodized aluminium but in...

No, it is an upgrade that will be added to Mk2, when I get round to doing it.
