Most suggest skipping that step - for future reference.
I normally don't like kids, but I like mine.
Actually, I agree with Mike Henderson. Many are hard to look at. The hoice of wood is poor, the joints are bad, and the form ends up looking odd. ...
Pretty sure it is not a cat spray smell, but it has a sweet sort of smell. The reason I question Oak, at this point, is that I have seen few Oaks of this size around here (if any). The pieces are in...
I alsofound some little white grub tupe things worming around in the bark. Anything to wory about?
Very nice piece of wood, and you did a great job showing it off.
And the last:
Few more pics:
I picked this out of our office landscapers truck, with permission. Unfortunately, I did not find out what the tree was.
I do know it was growing just off the parking lot, but it was in with...
If the face plate wobbles, that is likly to be the cause of the vibration and out-of-roundness.
Take it off, and see if there is any runnout on the headstock. If not, get a ne faceplate, or have...
Check this thread: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=68892
It has links to various other BS threads. The Rikon is mentioned in a few, not sure of the specific Grizz.
I like to overall piece, but I do not like how the heartwood looks in the first pic. Perhaps the picture is too straight on, making it look similar to a bullseye.
Nice NE though.
The final prduct looks good. I like the contrasting woods, actually.
Now, rechuck it and make it thicker.
Looks good. I will have to look up your other thread for the design ideas. I have a shade from a cieling fan light that I will be doing the same thing with. I just have to do a few other things...
I use the wolverine, but just the adjustable rest. Get the angle set right, and hold the edge 90 degrees to the wheel (tool flat, at an angle across the rest).
No offence, but historically those are not opposite.
Think they will stay satin. Here is a pic that shows a better perspective and size reference for the burn:
I think it might look bigger in the picture. The wire sunk into the wood once it started to go, so it has some depth the picture doesn't properly show.
It was made made with a 12 gauge solid...
Thanks, Robert. Which middle one?

Very nicely done. Your form seems to flow like the grain.
Well, had a chance to get some turning in, between work, kids, and painting the house (exterior). Let me know what you think, good or bad.
Silver Maple.
One coat of Wipe on Polly so far.

Thanks for the leads. The 48" rods look to be a bit expensive (this is for personal use). I will try to ask Ed at the next PPWT club meeting.
Does anyone know if there is a source for larger acrylic blanks? I am looking at the 2 or 3 inch diameter (probably closer to the 2 inch range) and about 4 to 5 inches long?
If I were to try...
Looks good. Appears to me to be Ambrosia Maple, based on some of the streaks.
Well, you should get the pop up, so not sure whats happening there, unless you have one strict pop up blocker. If that is the case, often times holding Ctrl when you click will work.
You will...
