Ive used it and its a good secondary wood. Nothing wrong w/ it at all. Comparable to Poplar exc it doesn't stink when planed.

Right, my goal here is to refine the cutting edge. Its the same thing as not using a chisel or plane iron right from the grinder.

I was surprised to see Lee Valley offers spoon bits of their own make. That makes at least 2 mfgs, Clico being the other. Are there any others? Are there any reviews of the various brands?
