I was planning on a trip up to colonial Williamsburg a couple weeks from now. A friend of mine works up at the Yorktown weapons facility near there and we were going to make a weekend of it. ...
So I'm down in Norfolk,VA for the next month for work. I figure since I can't be in the shop I'll go rust hunting. Does anyone know any decently sized flea markets or swap meets down this way? I...
The trip from shoreline CT to Lie-Nielsen is about 4.5 hours. It is actually shorter than I thought. You will however be driving by Boston so rush hour can add hours to the travel time.
Mystic Seaport! That's a decent drive from Maine. I am debating on making the drive from there to the event this year. Something always seems to creep up that keeps me away.
Only if it comes with a custom sling so you always have it handy.
Sorry to hear about your son. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
Took about 3 weeks for me. My 3 year old helped me put it back together and we tested it out together. It made it all the more rewarding.
Beautiful saw Mike. I like the M.O.P. Fasteners even if they aren't traditional. The closed handle on a dovetail saw is what really catches my eye as unique. All of these recent saw pictures makes...
I'm dropping mine in the mail tomorrow if the weather permits.
It sounds like you have a solid plan. I made the handle for my mallet out of Osage orange and used rasps to shape it to the contour of my hand which worked well. I did use a power tool to rip it to...
I inherited my grandfather's (mason) and great-grandfather's (machinist) hammers this year which has left me with 6 sizes of ball peens along with numerous types of hammers I didn't know existed. ...
I'm looking to get a larger size tenon saw and can't decide between a 16" or 18". I've searched the archives and every discussion goes off on one tangent or another. Has anyone really found the...
I have the same problem with my m12 right now but my bit is lodged in the router. I have no idea what to do. Mine stays in my horizontal table and rarely gets changed.
I love mine on small work or small sections. I often leave my pinky out along the body and grip with my middle and ring finger. I feel like I am more in control of the plane that way and I don't...
I was just sent this video as a joke by one of the guys I work with. I thought others might enjoy it.

Installed after a safe trip. I still have the frame I built to haul it set up in the truck. I'll get some pictures tomorrow. Thanks everybody for your help.
I was amazed at how many different types of silicone caulk are out there. I see ge makes one for granite. I think I'll give it a try.
I'm sitting here drawing up some kind of a-frame thing for the truck bed. It may be overkill.
My wife wants a kitchen island for our new house. I was planning on building one but she just found one in the classifieds cheaper than the cost of materials. We went and looked at it and it's great....
I gave in last spring. The veritas is great. I originally had trouble keeping it square to my work, but a small wooden fence fixed that.
It's hard to tell with the drifts. The deck has just over 20" and in front it just crests a concrete bench that is around 2'. All in all I'd say close to 24". It has drifted over waist high at the...
Not going anywhere. I finished moving in Sunday night and had no time to prepare for this. ...
Very nice. I wish I could get my wife to draw up what she wanted.
The Grand Canyon is absolutely breathtaking. I would love to go back when I have the time to hike rim to rim.
