Phil,
Robust 9" on my NOVA. Will add a couple of other sizes shortly. Best tool rests for the price.
Ernie
Jim, I do like the idea of costco nut containers. Good thing I like their product. Not to get you too envious re humidity, we are running 14 percent today. Went over to your side of the hill to...
Ryan,
Brand new in Nova original packing, not cosmoline, just heavy oil.
Ernie
Guys,
Thank you all so much. Being basically lazy, think I'll try Curtis' suggestion and Mike's to wrap in paper towel. If that doesn't work, outside WD-40 and blast with air hose.
Again, really...
My G3 chuck from E-Bay just showed up in the mail yesterday. Great price, no sales tax and no shipping charges! Now, its coated with heavy oil, not quite cosmoline. What do I use to get it off? ...
Jim, check you email. Sent contact info.
Guys. Appreciate your words. Just trying to help if anyone else had the problem of short grippers on the Cole Jaws. After all, we're all here to help...
Ed,
See my post from a few moments ago about extending the grip of your Cole Jaws if that's what you want to use.
Ernie
The rubber grips on my Cole Jaws were too short to use for my bangles and too short to safely retain some platters or bowls by the rim. Found a solution that did not require me to make wooden...
Nova G3 on ebay. I ordered one. There appear to be 4 left. Can't beat the price and sales tax not charged. The seller is Bob Gadd. Name sounds familiar. Don't know if I ran across his name on...
Ken,
I'm sure you didn't get that at Woodcraft in Spokane!!!! Sometimes, makes me wish I lived back in Pittsburgh again, but only for a little while. Lots of Maple out here and other figured woods...
I have a pre-China Nova 3000, 1.5hp DC VS lathe and need a couple of additional chucks for light work.
Nova G3? $144.99
Woodcraft: WoodRiver chuck with tommy bars? $86.50
Tommy bars work for...
Steve,
RIT, is that the fabric dye?
Ernie
Jess,
Really like the shape and the finish!!
I'm interested in how you are pricing them since we have a few wineries in the neighborhood and they have expressed some interest in having some on...
Thank you both. I knew I was in the right place.
As I said originally, you guys are awesome. Off to find some oxalic acid.
Thank you again for helping me impress SWMBO.
Ernie
Haven't posted in a while, too much work, not enough play.
Have a round 24" red oak plant table, with the inevitable black water stains. Whatever finish is on the old table is unknown. How do I...
Ben,
Follow CW's suggestion. Finish sand it (off the lathe of course), shoot it with many coats of lacquer, mount it on a brass rod and a base. Call it "trashed art", "woodturner's lament",...
Tom, graceful. Like the two rings around the mid section and the ring around the top, ties it all together.
Ernie
Dave,
Hope you get some positive response from the "Other 8". Of course you are more than welcome over here on "The Dry Side", MidColumbia Woodturners in the Tri Cities. If you are passing...
Rick,
Thank you. Further convinced me that I really want to try ebonizing.
Ernie
Sol, James,
Thank you both. I have two bowls working at the moment and will definitely try one of each.
James, the pronunciation is the Germanic, as in RaCOON. There is no "umlaut" over the "u". ...
Brian,
Googled it. Found CS Unitec, Norwalk, Ct. 10" to 25" bar, 1.2 to 4 hp, needs 92cfm at 90psi.
Think I'll keep what I have, compressor would probably cost more than my next car.
Ernie
Bill,
Got the BLO on it at the moment, wiping it down every couple of hours or so. When its dry, will shoot a couple of pics, probably in a couple of days.
