Greg, I turned a small bowl over the weekend and checked the heat on the inverter cover just because of your thread. Warm to the touch, but not hot.

Robert, had to laugh at the "nine and 2/3rds finger club" comment! Thanks, I needed that. Hope your wrong about the nerve regeneration, that would suck as it's kind of hard to feel if I've got a...
[quote=Jason Clark2;843006]Dale, Sorry to hear about the loss of your digit. I had an accident with my bandsaw 11 days ago, not quite as severe as yours, only about 1/2 way through the bone. /quote]...
I turned a pen tonight to get back into turning and to get over the initial fear of using the bandsaw again. Whoo, glad to be turning again! Now for the bad news, the re-attachment didn't take...
Toney, inhallation is the main health issue. Can cause dizziness, and headaches. Long term, can effect the central nervous system. Just make sure you use gloves and either a respirator or have...
Wow, very nice! Great wood grain, color and execution!

John, you probably know already, but be careful with acetone, wear PPE (gloves, respirator) as it has nasty long term effects when inhaled or via skin.
How did it compare to super glue in...
Bob, great job! I really like it. You did a great job of blending the colors. Did you start or end with black?

Thanks for all the well wishes. Keeping my other fingers crossed that the pinky survives. I debated back and forth whether to post it or not, and now I'm glad I did. I hope it makes everyone...
I was hesitant to post this because of my pride but here it goes. Long story short, I cut my left pinky nearly off Thurs. afternoon in a bandsaw accident. Cut it about 1/8" above the nail ,clean...
Bernie, congrats! Now you have two setups on my want list! Looking forward to a users review. Always nice to hear how one of our turners like it, both pros & cons.
Dale
Chris, that is a huge piece! You boy is really cute and looks like he is ready for the snow:rolleyes:. How was the soft pine 2x4's to turn? You bringing it to the show and tell in April?
I like...
Bob, great tutorial! I did one of these for a contest in Jan. w/o the lid (I called it an elevated four legged square bowl:D). The lid you added really sets it off, very nice job! It's fun having...
You can't go wrong with the Jet 1642 unless you think you will want to turn 20" platters or such. You might want to search the classified section, as there was someone there trying to sell a brand...
Another great job! Really like how you went the extra yard to center the grain, makes it really pop, and draw your eye to the center of the plate.

Agree, could use a bigger foot, but man that flame is wild! Really nice job!

Wow, nice pieces! Great first post! Welcome! I hope to add the articulating Hollowing system for my lathe in the near future.

Small foot makes it appear a bit unstable, but I love the overall shape, coloring, grain of the wood. Great job!

Interesting! Maybe there is a difference in steel quality or hardening process. For what it's worth, the BB 5/8" Bowl Gouge is my favorite. I have a 3/8" and I'll not too excited about...
Ok Bernie, you asked for it! Here is a pic with it on my old ugly mutt. No off color jokes guys;)
Dale
Gee, why didn't I think of that , thanks Bernie for the suggestion. I'll have to have the LOML take one tomorrow night.

Yesterday at our Wood Turning Guild (OVWG) had the raffle for a Chris Ramsey Cowboy Hat (Wormy Ambrosia Maple). How lucky I am! First time I've won anything in a raffle. I know the other members have...
Congrats Steve! You will love it! I do!

Am I missing something? I don't see the money bank, only 2 pens (very nice by the way!).
