Guys,
Saw this on CL today. No picture, so I can't tell what condition this is in, but does anyone here have any experience with this saw? I've been wanting to upgrade from my Delta Contractor...
Thanks to all!
I'll go through the items above and post some feedback for others in the area who might be interested...
Thanks,
John
ok, not a peep...is that due to my location, or my post?
I can handle it if my post was 'off-putting', just curious...
To all,
I've spent the past few years accumulating some tools and experience. I'm having decent results, but really lack confidence that what i'm doing is right, or right-enough, or inefficient,...
That's beautiful - you leave no detail unperfected!
I have a question about the top....
I built a 'chair side' humidor as a Christmas present last year. Cherry with Spanish Cedar insert. I...
Do you have a picture of the top?
I have an old Delta contractor saw that I was happy with when I was building the deck, but haven't been satisfied with since I've been doing ww.
I can't seem to get it aligned, have trouble with...
I don't think we're supposed to post links, so here's the post from CL:
Delta 10 inch tilting arbor table saw and table extension 3 phase, 5 HP motor 230/460 volt, with heavy duty roller...
But you can never have too much gravy ;)!!
Here's what I decided...
I bought a nice #4 Stanley from James T. I figured than since I mostly work with fairly well-behaved wood, the price and his reputation I couldn't go wrong and could use...
I need to win the lottery - cash for tools and the time to use them!
Paul,
I'd like to buy both, but I also want a #8!
It does seem like the dialog is primarily between the BU and the Low Angle, with not many votes for the standard #4 - am I inferring too...
Thanks for all the feedback...I guess I have to make a decision now....
On another thread, I was asking how to spend some money...narrowing it down a bit.
For a smoother - #4, low angle smoother or BU smoother? Looks like the footprints are about the same (10" x 2"),...
I'm definitely getting the tattoo!
Thanks to tall.
I've had decent luck sharpening with the sandpaper up to 2,500 grit on a granite tile. Do you think I'll get that much better results with some good sharpening stones?
...
Guys,
I won a bet with my wife (Stanley cup - thanks Hawks!)...Now I have $200 to spend on new tools!!!
I recently bought an old Bailey #5 and Block plane from Sandy's tools - really liking...
Tons of great information - can't wait to get home and try it out....
Need to figure out how to get consisently sharp blades (trying scary sharp now)...
...my favorite!
One more thing...the board is about 18" wide, and I can only work on one side of my bench. I then have to reach across the board, which doesn't seem very effective.
Will I cause more problems if...
Thanks...I seem to have trouble getting a very thin shaving. Seems like it's either a bit chunky, or just 'dust'....
To all,
After lurking here for a year - I decided to jump in. I bought a old Bailey #5 from Sandy Moss - took a few hours to tune up and it was working. I can say that I'm hooked - found myself...
That's the kind of thing that helps convince the OMB (Office of Management and Budget) that tools are a family investment!
Thanks...I'll try the re-rip and re-glue...with cauls!!!
Thanks...I was afraid of that, but hoping there was some magic....I forgot to mention that i used my last bit of good Cherry...off to the store!
