There is a log weight calculator out there (although where I cannot say...). If you google "log weight calculator" you'll find it. And Gary is right...they will be heavier than you think!

Another key thing with concrete is that the slab can only be as sound as the base it is on. So-take time to make sure the rock is well compacted, that will help avoid another nasty type of cracking...
I like using cattle panels as well, but keep them intact and attach them to steel fence posts. They are very sturdy, and you can plant on both sides with good results.
