Amazing! Where did you get such figured oak (side panels)? And the burl on top is amazing too. Great work indeed!

I know this is an old thread, but I came across it via search.
For the record, Jim is correct. I just came across a very nice piece of spalted black walnut. I also have a large board of spalted...
A 60 foot long table will seat waaaaaayyyyy more than 6 people...
And you'll need aprons wider than 5" too.
Thanks guys.
Hans, yes, the angle is for fingers to grab, and it's plenty to grab on to without fingers slipping.
Thanks Phil, the other dresser I built is about a year old and has already...
Pat, I've made a whole whack of picture frames this way. What I do is go to the dollar store and buy frames for $1 each. Then I use the backing with the support, and the glass and throw away the...

Hi all, about a year ago I picked up this piece of beautiful crotch walnut. It is 30" long, 18" wide (at it's widest) and after I had it flattened by drum sander, it's only about 5/8" thick.
I want...
Hey all , some of you have seen the headboard and first dresser I built for my wife and I for our bedrrom. Well, here is the second dresser. I'm slowly getting the suite done, now only the two...

Just finished this box a few days ago. Curly / birdseye maple with Koa.
Finish is WOP.
Fairly simple design. Actually a clamp fell off it's rack and broke the original lid so I had to remake this...

What an amazingly beautiful box Bill. I love it. Amazing figure in the wood and exquisit execution on the build!
My good friend just called me yesterday to tell me that he brought me some...
I actually have been wanting to make a proper cabinet for my router table for a while, and finally got around to it over the past few weeks. The table is just one from Masterscraft but it's flat and...
Very nice project. Classy indeed.
Well done. What is the drawer bottom, just plywood?

It looks like the panels have just a wee bit of wiggle room. Well dryed and well finished wood won't expand too much anyway.
At only 18" wide, it doesn't have to be too thick if it's sitting in dados. I'd say 1/2" cherry would be fine, but you could go 5/8" too. If the bottom is also physically connected to the partitions,...
Great work and fantastic choice on the wood combination.
Canary wood can be such a beautiful species. I have a large board in my stock pile (96"x10") and plan to male either a hall table or bench...
Why glue up anything at all??
Just get a nice big solid slab. 1 piece o wood for the top, no clamps, no glue.
Just lots and lots of handplaning! :)

Thanks guys. The pine bottom (solid wood, not ply) sits in dados cut in the legs and aprons.
Gary, I got the curly maple from Atlantic in Sherwood Park. It's such a hassle to get wood from...
Thanks gents!
Neil, the joinery is quadruple dowels (3/8" x 2"), done with my mortise pal. I love that thing.

Thanks fellas.
Ron, those are the only picture I took. The front is only 3/4" high and can be seen in the photo's. The back is just left open, so othing to see there.
Scot, this footrest is...
This table was made for a former co-worker that I have done several past projects for as well. he seems to like my work. http://forum.canadianwoodworking.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Here is a simple project that the LOML asked me to make for her. She recently returned to work and wanted something to rest her feet on under her desk. Some of her co-workers had cheap plastic...
The boards don't care if there is only a 1/2" between them or 3/4" inch. It doesn't matter. Air flow is air flow.
That looks like some nice walnut. Feel free to ship some to me.. :)
I'll +1 the...
